Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Software Licensing Specialist located in Bengaluru/Noida/Pune/Hyderabad, The Software Licensing Specialist will be responsible for managing software compliance of predominantly ORACLE - database, middleware, and application licensing ensuring alignment with global SAM best practice are adhered, alongside management of software asset lifecycle. The day-to-day tasks will include reviewing licensing requirements, maintaining accurate records of software assets, updating the license position and providing guidance on software licensing issues. Collaboration with IT teams and vendors to ensure effective license management will also be a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Oracle licensing reviews covering Database, Middleware, E-Business Suite, Java SE, and Cloud (OCI, BYOL, ULA) environments.
• Evaluate deployment data from discovery tools (LMS scripts, Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow, etc.) and map to entitlements.
• Identify non-compliance risks and optimization opportunities in Processor vs Named User Plus (NUP) models.
• Interpret Oracle Master Agreements (OMA/OMA-C), ordering documents, and technical metrics.
• Support audit defense and vendor negotiation during Oracle License Reviews (LMS / GLAS engagements).
• Develop optimization scenarios including consolidation, virtualization, and license re-harvesting.
• Assess Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and Unlimited License Agreement (ULA) renewal or certification strategies.
• Advise on OCI migrations, Cloud@Customer, and RISE/SaaS licensing implications.
• Provide actionable recommendations to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Integrate Oracle licensing intelligence within SAM processes (ISO/IEC 19770-1 framework).
• Create and maintain license position reports (ELP) and reconciliation templates.
• Document Oracle policies, terms, and licensing exceptions.
• Support clients during compliance reviews and renewal cycles.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of hands-on Oracle licensing or SAM experience.
• Exposure to Oracle LMS / GLAS audit process.
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud migration licensing (OCI, Azure, AWS).
• Experience in Software Asset Management and software Licensing
• Knowledge of Information Technology concepts and practices
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Effective communication - written & oral to simplify technical details to business language
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Previous experience in a similar role is a plus

Educational Background

The candidate should have an IT background (BCA/BSC/BE) to understand the IT landscape and should have proven experience on software licensing, particularly in ORACLE
