Job Title: Senior Cloud Architect

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and robust cloud architectures primarily for built environment with timeseries data  
  • Lead the migration of existing legacy cloud infrastructures to modern cloud-based platforms, ensuring seamless integration and minimal downtime. 
  • Support for hosting and configuration of critical services like Kafka, Timeseries DB 
  • Enhancement of the scalable data and event pipeline across the stack  
  • Architectural design for convergence of different offers into a single unified offer for Small and Mid-Size Buildings 
  • Develop and deploy microservices architectures, actively participating in coding and development when necessary. 
  • Manage the full lifecycle of deployment from architecture design through integration and maintenance. 
  • Support for performance testing of critical infrastructure components (both existing and planned revamp) 
  • Guide and mentor teams in developing modern cloud solutions, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in cloud computing to keep Schneider Electric at the forefront of technological innovation. 

 

Requirements:

Experience:

  • 10 - 15 years of overall experience in software engineering 
  • 5+ years in architect role for a cloud-based software product / platform with a proven track record of deploying cloud solutions in a large-scale environment supporting billions of data points per day. 

Technical Expertise

Must Have:

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure is essential; AWS knowledge is a significant plus.  
  • Strong experience in taking cost-conscious architectural decisions of using native services vs self-hosted services 
  • Experience with Kafka including performance tuning of a hosted Kafka instance  
  • Experience with event driven architecture. 
  • Experience with performance evaluation of different architectural options. 
  • Hands-on experience with microservices, containerization and Kubernetes (AKS, Openshift). 
  • Hands-on experience with different databases (Redis, Mongodb, Postgresql) 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java and C#  

Good to have:

  • Experience with timeseries database e.g. InfluxDB or timescale will be an added plus 
  • Experience with configurable dashboard platforms will be a plus. 
  • Experience with Kafka Streams.  
  • Experience in building Data Pipelines 
  • Experience in Architecting Data Analytics system that convert raw data into actionable insights. 
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines with Github CI/Argo CD/Jenkins etc.  

Tools & Project Management:

  • Hands on experience of Atlassian Jira & Confluence Cloud, GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOps. 
  • Experienced professional working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Scaled Agile (SAFe) mode. 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills. 
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain and present technical concepts to a diverse set of audiences. 
  • Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills 
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and thrive in a cross-functional environment. 
  • Willingness to work outside documented job description. Has a “whatever is needed” attitude. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional. 
  • Prior experience in the energy sector or industrial automation is advantageous.
