Operations Manager – FMCG / Food Ingredients Industry

Location: Kochi

Department: Operations and Administration

Reports To: Managing Director / Board of Directors

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager with a minimum of 10–15 years of leadership experience in the FMCG or Food Ingredients industry. The candidate must possess strong operational, financial, and administrative expertise with demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end business functions, including purchase, logistics, budgeting, finance oversight, HR coordination, and compliance. This role demands strategic thinking combined with hands-on management to ensure sustainable growth and organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Administrative Leadership

Lead the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth coordination across departments.

Prepare annual budgets and department-wise budget allocations, and monitor actual performance against targets.

Conduct periodic business performance reviews, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Oversee administrative functions, certifications, audits, and ensure corporate governance standards are adhered to.

Finance & Auditing Oversight

Supervise financial planning, accounting, and internal control systems.

Ensure accuracy in invoicing, billing, and payment records in coordination with the accounts team.

Liaise with external auditors for periodic audits and compliance validation.

Monitor cash flow, credit control, and cost optimization for all running operations.

Procurement & Logistics Management

Oversee the entire purchase process, vendor selection, and negotiation for raw materials, packaging, and equipment.

Plan and manage the logistics and transportation network to ensure timely supply and delivery efficiency.

Evaluate supplier performance and improve cost-effectiveness through strategic sourcing.

Human Resource Coordination

Conduct preliminary interviews and candidate screenings for various departmental roles.

Work with HR to identify skill gaps, improve workforce productivity, and support performance management systems.

Ensure alignment of manpower planning with business expansion and operational needs.

Reporting & Communication

Coordinate with all department heads to collect and analyze monthly MIS reports for management review.

Present consolidated management reports including operational, financial, and logistical insights.

Act as a communication bridge between senior management and operational teams.

Compliance & Certification

Oversee internal audits, quality certifications, and statutory compliance related to food safety and business operations.

Ensure company-wide adherence to ISO, FSSAI, and GST regulations, and other industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Food Technology.

Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in FMCG or Food Ingredients sector, including senior management roles.

Strong knowledge of purchase management, logistics, budgeting, and financial systems.

Experience in audit management, compliance monitoring, and vendor relationship handling.

Excellent leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Proficiency in MS Office, Tally Prime, ERP systems, and MIS preparation.

Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
