Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical MIS Manager to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency within our steel plant. This specialized role is critical for designing, building, and maintaining robust automation solutions, real-time dashboards, and internal tools using the full power of the Google Workspace ecosystem, including Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, and Google AppSheet.

The ideal candidate will translate complex operational data requirements into efficient, scalable, and secure data management and reporting solutions that directly impact production, maintenance, and inventory tracking.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

1. Data Modeling & Reporting (Google Sheets Focus)

  • Design, build, and maintain complex, secure, and high-performance Google Sheets for Management Information Systems (MIS), operational reporting, and data management.
  • Develop and implement advanced spreadsheet formulas, including QUERY, ARRAYFORMULA, INDEX/MATCH, FILTER, VLOOKUP, REGEX, and IMPORTRANGE, for dynamic data analysis and consolidation across large datasets.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, validation, and performance optimization within all Sheets-based systems.

2. System Automation & Integration (Google Apps Script)

  • Develop, test, and deploy robust Google Apps Script (JavaScript-based) automations to streamline complex business processes in a scheduled or event-driven manner.
  • Data Processing: Automate data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks.
  • Communication: Create automated email/SMS alerts, notifications, and scheduled summary reports (e.g., daily production reports).
  • Workflows: Implement and manage custom approval workflows (e.g., material requisition, maintenance work order sign-offs).
  • Create custom menus, dialogs, sidebars, and custom functions within Google Sheets to enhance user experience.
  • Integrate Google Sheets and Apps Script with other Google Workspace services (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Forms) and external third-party systems via REST APIs.

3. Mobile & Web Application Development (Google AppSheet)

  • Lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of low-code/no-code mobile and web applications using Google AppSheet to digitize plant-floor processes (e.g., daily inspection checklists, inventory count logging, equipment downtime tracking).
  • Design intuitive user interfaces and ensure seamless, real-time synchronization of AppSheet data back to the core Google Sheets database.

4. MIS and Business Intelligence (BI)

  • Design, build, and maintain automated Management Information System (MIS) reports and interactive operational dashboards for all levels of plant management.
  • Ensure reporting provides real-time visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production throughput, maintenance downtime, energy consumption, and inventory levels.
  • Preferred: Utilize Looker Studio (Data Studio) for advanced reporting and data visualization presentation.

5. Governance and Support

  • Provide comprehensive technical documentation for all developed automated solutions and applications.
  • Provide training and ongoing user support to plant staff, promoting the efficient adoption of new digital tools.
  • Implement data security measures and access controls across the Google Workspace environment to protect sensitive operational data.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.

Google Sheets

3+ years of strong, hands-on experience with advanced Sheets formulas, particularly the QUERY function and complex data modeling.

Apps Script

Solid expertise (2+ years) in Google Apps Script development (JavaScript) for automation, custom functions, and API interactions.

AppSheet

Practical experience (1+ years) in designing, building, and deploying functional Google AppSheet applications.

Technical

Basic understanding of REST APIs and JSON data structures for system integration.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication, technical documentation, and user training ability.

Industry

Experience or familiarity with data needs in a manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environment is highly valued.

Preferred/Additional Skills (Advantageous)

  • Experience with Looker Studio / Data Studio for comprehensive BI reporting.
  • Prior experience in integrating data from existing enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, HRMS) into the Google Workspace environment.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Certifications related to Google Workspace or AppSheet development.

Work Environment & Travel:

  • Location: The role will be based at the Pondicherry plant with occasional travel to other facilities, as required.
  • Working Hours: Standard office hours, with flexibility for critical deadlines and project timelines.
