The Role:

We are looking for a Middleware Admin L2 who is responsible for installation, configuration,

administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise middleware

platforms including WebSphere, JBoss, and Apache Tomcat. This role supports application

teams, manages deployments, resolves incidents, and ensures stable, secure, and high-

performing middleware environments across all stages (DEV → PROD).


Responsibilities:

Installation, Configuration & Environment Setup

  • Install and configure IBM WebSphere Application Server, JBoss EAP, and Apache
  • Tomcat.
  • Create and manage profiles, nodes, clusters, and virtual hosts (WebSphere).
  • Configure datasources, JDBC providers, connection pools, and transaction settings.
  • Configure JVM parameters (heap, GC policy, thread pool settings).
  • Integrate web servers (IHS/Apache) and manage plugin configurations.
  • Perform server upgrades, patching, fix pack installation, and migration activities.
  • Set up SSL certificates, keystores, and truststores.
  • Manage multi-environment setups (DEV/QA/UAT/PROD).


2. Middleware Administration & Monitoring

  • Perform daily health checks and ensure availability of application servers.
  • Monitor JVM performance, GC logs, heap usage, threads, and system resources.
  • Schedule and execute DR drills and environment recovery operations.
  • Maintain SOPs, configuration documents, and server inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with audit, security, and patching standards.
  • Support deployments, environment refreshes, and routine maintenance tasks.


3. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution

  • Analyze and resolve WebSphere/JBoss/Tomcat incidents and production issues.
  • Perform heap dump, thread dump, and GC analysis to diagnose performance problems.
  • Troubleshoot application deployment failures and rollback procedures.
  • Resolve datasource, connection pool, and transaction-related issues.
  • Analyze logs (SystemOut.log, server.log, catalina.log, etc.) to identify root causes.
  • Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams (IBM/RedHat/Apache).
  • Work on critical incidents, on-call/weekend support


4. Deployment & Release Management

  • Execute application deployments (EAR/WAR) and post-deployment validations.
  • Troubleshoot build, packaging, and deployment-related issues.
  • Maintain version consistency across clusters and environments.
  • Assist development and QA teams during release cycles.


Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Middleware Admin L2.
  • Hands-on experience with WebSphere, JBoss EAP, and Apache Tomcat administration.
  • Experience with JVM tuning, heap/thread analysis, GC policies
  • Strong hands-on experience with Datasource/JDBC configuration
  • Experience with Web server integration (IHS/Apache)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills using logs, dumps, and system metrics.
  • Solid Linux/Unix and Windows command-line skills.
  • Incident management and problem-solving experience.
  • Experience with deployments and production support.
  • Good understanding of HA configurations, clustering, and load-balancing.
  • Experience with automation using Shell, Python, Ansible, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, and microservices deployment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem).
  • Ability to document procedures, architecture, and environment details.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
  • Understanding of load balancers (F5, Nginx) and reverse-proxy setups.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native middleware.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
  • Vendor certification: IBM, Red Hat, or equivalent.
