Job Description – R&R Instrumentation Engineer
Position Overview :-We are looking for a skilled and proactive R&R Instrumentation Engineer to ensure the reliability, safety, and compliance of all plant instrumentation, utilities, and control systems. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, project execution, energy efficiency, cost control, and team development while adhering to the highest standards of EHS and quality.
Key Responsibilities1. Plant & Equipment Maintenance Ensure plant equipment is well maintained, safe, and reliable.
Support daily plant operations and fulfill day-to-day maintenance requirements.
Maintain an updated list of all instruments and systems installed at the site.
Develop, update, and implement an Annual Calibration Schedule approved by stakeholders.
Achieve 100% adherence to planned maintenance, calibration schedules, and breakdown SOPs.
Ensure timely closure of equipment notifications in SAP with detailed history.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPAs within defined timelines to prevent repeat failures.
Maintain equipment availability: 99.5%+ for service-critical, 98%+ for general, and 100% for safety-critical equipment.
Monitor and manage Annual Engineering Budget, including zero-based maintenance budgeting.
Assess equipment condition profiles and plan phase-wise replacement.
Ensure 100% compliance with Opex and Capex budgets.
Manage critical spare parts planning and inventory with defined min–max levels.
Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports, IRM presentations, and dashboard compliance reports.
Ensure compliance with legal and metrology requirements.
Execute projects as per equipment layout and P&ID.
Oversee uninterrupted operation of plant machinery, utilities, fire hydrant, and alarm systems.
2. Safety & Compliance Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with EHS requirements and local regulations.
Strive for zero reportable incidents.
Maintain equipment integrity to prevent injury and property damage.
Implement EHS, TPM, 5S, JH activities, 360° guarding, leak-free/dust-free equipment practices.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and LEGATRIX requirements.
3. Quality Assurance Prevent equipment failures from impacting product quality.
Reduce repeat failures by 50% YoY.
Continuously review and improve PM checklists and frequencies using RCA, FMEA, and inspection outcomes.
Maintain and optimize IoT, DCS, data collection, and analysis systems, using insights to eliminate stoppages.
4. Energy Conservation & Cost Management Ensure efficient operation of high energy-consuming equipment.
Implement energy-saving measures and monitor committed savings.
Plan and execute replacement of inefficient equipment to enhance plant energy performance.
Drive innovation and cost optimization initiatives in asset management and maintenance practices.
5. People & Contractor Management Lead, mentor, and develop team members and contractors.
Ensure only trained and competent personnel are assigned to critical jobs.
Ensure timely completion of all role-based training programs for self and team.
Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
Proficiency in RCA, FMEA, SAP PM Module, and engineering budget management.
Familiarity with EHS, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 standards.
Hands-on experience in DCS, IoT systems, project execution, and utilities.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
8–12 years of relevant experience in plant instrumentation and maintenance.
Experience in preventive & predictive maintenance, calibration, utilities, and SAP PM.
Exposure to ISO, EHS, and energy efficiency programs is preferred.
