Role Overview

The Operations Head for the Wealth Division will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing processes, and enabling seamless delivery of wealth products and services. This includes oversight of back-office operations, transaction processing, customer onboarding, compliance coordination, technology integration, and team performance. The role demands strong leadership, product understanding, process discipline, and an ability to work with multiple stakeholders including sales, RM teams, compliance, product, technology, and custodians/AMCs.


Key Responsibilities


1. Operations Management

·       Oversee end-to-end operations for Mutual Funds, PMS, AIF, Bonds, Insurance, Structured Products, and other wealth offerings.

·       Ensure smooth transaction processing, order execution, and post-trade activities.

·       Manage client onboarding, KYC verification, FATCA/CRS checks, risk profiling, and documentation standards.

·       Oversee account opening processes on various systems.

·       Ensure timely reconciliations – brokerage, commissions, payouts, client holdings, and product-wise revenue.


2. Process Improvement & Automation

·       Identify gaps and streamline processes to improve TAT, accuracy, and efficiency.

·       Work closely with the tech team to digitize processes and build workflow automation.

·       Drive adoption of CRM, wealth platforms, and reporting dashboards.

·       Standardize SOPs across products and branches.


3. Compliance & Risk Management

·       Ensure adherence to SEBI, AMFI, IRDAI, PMLA, and other regulatory requirements.

·       Coordinate with internal auditors, compliance, and risk teams for periodic reviews.

·       Monitor process deviations, transaction risks, and ensure timely resolution of audit observations.

·       Maintain robust data security, confidentiality, and client information handling protocols.


4. Team Leadership & Coordination

·       Lead and mentor operations teams across wealth back-office, onboarding, and service.

·       Conduct periodic training sessions on process updates, regulatory changes, and product knowledge.

·       Build a culture of accuracy, ownership, and service excellence.

·       Work closely with Relationship Managers, Sales Heads, and Branch Ops for smooth operations.


5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

·       Liaise with AMCs, custodians, exchanges, and third-party product partners for operational matters.

·       Manage service levels with external partners and ensure timely resolution of escalations.

·       Work with finance for brokerage calculations, vendor payouts, and revenue reporting.


6. Reporting & MIS

·       Prepare daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports on transactions, revenue, exceptions, and productivity.

·       Provide insights to management for business planning and process improvements.

·       Track KPIs and SLAs for operational performance.


Required Skills & Competencies

·       Strong understanding of wealth management products (MF, PMS, AIF, Bonds, Insurance, Structured Products).

·       In-depth knowledge of operations workflow, KYC norms, regulatory guidelines, and internal controls.

·       Expertise in process creation, automation, and operations technology platforms.

·       Excellent leadership, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills.

·       Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability.

·       High attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Good communication and presentation skills.


Qualifications

·       Graduate/MBA in Finance/Operations or related field.

·       NISM certifications for Mutual Funds, Investment Advisor, or related modules (preferred).

·       10–15+ years of experience in wealth/financial services operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
