Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic, passionate, and hands-on Head of Learning & Development (L&D) to design, implement, and scale impactful learning experiences across Lernern. This leader will own the end-to-end learning journey from content and pedagogy to assessment and trainer capability development.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in examination management including preparation, coordination, and execution along with expertise in training of trainers and building robust learning systems. This is a critical leadership role for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and operational excellence in the L&D space.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Design

  • Develop and lead the L&D strategy aligned with Lernern’s mission and learner outcomes.
  • Create scalable, modular learning journeys tailored to different learner personas (students, jobseekers, professionals).
  • Drive the implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and other formal credit pathways.


2. Curriculum & Content

  • Oversee curriculum design for technical, employability, and behavioral skills aligned with industry needs.
  • Ensure instructional design follows best practices in adult learning, microlearning, and digital pedagogy.


3. Delivery, Exams & Faculty Management

  • Lead the Examination Cell, including preparation, coordination, and conduct of examinations across centers.
  • Develop SOPs and training kits for facilitators to deliver engaging sessions in both in-person and hybrid formats.
  • Build and manage a strong network of trainers and facilitators.
  • Standardize onboarding, training, and performance management of all teaching staff.
  • Drive Training of Trainers (ToT) programs to ensure quality and consistency in delivery.
  • Establish SOPs for blended learning delivery, assessments, and learner support.


4. Impact & Quality

  • Define and monitor L&D KPIs such as learner engagement, course completion, job-readiness, and NPS.
  • Conduct regular learning diagnostics and use data insights to continuously improve programs.
  • Build systems for feedback collection and learner progression tracking.


5. Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with tech, product, and partnerships teams to align learning journeys with platform features and employer needs.
  • Represent the L&D function in external forums, partnerships, and accreditation processes.



What We’re Looking For

  • 8–12 years of experience in Learning & Development, preferably in education, skilling, or vocational training sectors.
  • Strong expertise in assessment and examination operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training design, faculty development, and learning analytics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A hands-on leader who can translate strategy into executable action.
