Head of Information Technology

Role Overview

The Head of Technology will own end-to-end tech strategy, digital product roadmap delivery, architecture decisions, and cross-functional execution. This leader combines strong technical depth with product thinking, business alignment, and a builder’s mindset. The role is both strategic and hands-on—driving platform excellence, AI-led transformation, and operational efficiency across ecommerce, retail stores, logistics, and marketing systems.

You will be responsible for evolving digital landscape across Shopify, ERP (MS D365 BC), middleware, AI platforms, retail systems, and data pipelines—while leading a lean, high-impact engineering team and external partners.

Key Responsibilities :

Technology Strategy & Architecture

Create and execute technology roadmap covering ecommerce, omnichannel retail, logistics integrations, customer experience, and AI-driven initiatives. Define scalable architectures across Shopify, ERP, OMS, mobile, data, and cloud services.

Product & Engineering Leadership

Work closely with Product, Design, Marketing and Merchandising to translate business goals into technical delivery. Lead sprint planning, system design, engineering execution, QA, and release management, AI-powered demand forecasting + merchandising intelligence/ AI-Powered Work Efficiency System

Omnichannel & Backend Integrations

Own integrations between Shopify, ERP (MS D365 BC), payment systems, retail POS, inventory services, and middleware (API/SQS pipelines). Ensure accurate real-time inventory, allocation logic, fulfilment flows, and multi-store orchestration.

Retail Tech & In-Store Innovation + guest experience :

Phygital Store POS optimisation, RFID/ inventory accuracy systems, unified customer profile, hyper-personalized experiences, Footfall analysis, heat mapping, store analytics, Digital experiential screens, guided displays); AI in store tools: visual search, assisted styling, voice enabled AI, AI-driven site performance optimization (search, recommendations.

AI & Automation

Drive adoption of AI across the company styling engines, merchandising, logistics, marketing content, customer support, dashboards, and workflows. Experiment with agents, LLMs, and automation to improve operational efficiency.

Performance & Reliability

Champion speed, uptime, security, and scalability across all customer-facing and internal systems. Use data-driven monitoring, profiling tools, and observability practices to maintain platform health.

Security, Governance & Compliance

Ensure secure handling of data, access controls, audit trails, backup policies, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Team Leadership & Culture

Build and mentor an engineering and tech operations team that thrives on curiosity, ownership, and craft. Create an environment of continuous learningwith strong alignment to brand values.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills :

- Deep experience with ecommerce platforms (preferably Shopify) and custom integrations.

- Strong grasp of APIs, microservices, queues, and cloud architectures.

- Hands-on experience with backend engineering (Node.js/JS preferred), databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and frontend frameworks.

- Understanding of retail tech: POS, inventory, OMS, payments, logistics integrations.

- Familiarity with data pipelines, dashboards, analytics, and reporting systems.

- Exposure to AI, LLMs, automation workflows, or ML-powered product features.

Product & Business Skills :

- Ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements.

- Strong prioritization, roadmap planning, and stakeholder collaboration.

- Experience handling fast-paced releases, A/B tests, CX improvements, and performance optimisation.

Leadership Skills :

- Ability to lead a small, high-impact engineering team.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external agencies.

- Excellent communication, documentation, and alignment skills.
