(1) Edwards Vacuum Pumps – Gujarat & Rajasthan

To support our growth in Gujarat and Rajasthan, we are looking for a field-oriented Sales Engineer to handle sales and basic application support for vacuum pumps and industrial blowers.


Position Overview

This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer who enjoys:

  • Field work and industrial visits
  • Meeting customers and understanding applications
  • Explaining technical products in simple language
  • Working with targets and measurable results

You will handle sales of:

  • Edwards vacuum pumps across Gujarat & Rajasthan
  • Kay International industrial blowers across Gujarat

Key aspects of the role:

  • Frequent travel within Gujarat and periodic visits to Rajasthan
  • Regular customer visits, cold calls, and follow-ups
  • Technical and commercial offer preparation
  • Coordination with our service team for execution and support

Key Responsibilities

1) Business Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify and develop new customers in:

(1) Process industries

(2) OEMs

(3) Project contractors (EPC)

(4) Maintenance/service organizations

  • Plan and execute regular field visits in industrial areas and clusters.
  • Generate leads through:

(1) Cold calling and plant visits

(2) Phone calls and WhatsApp

(3) Basic email outreach

(4) Referrals from existing customers

  • Maintain and update a prospect list with key details (contact persons, applications, status).


2) Technical Sales & Application Support

  • Understand typical applications for:

(1) Vacuum pumps (drying, distillation, packaging, coating, etc.)

(2) Blowers (pneumatic conveying, aeration, process air, etc.)

  • Explain to customers:

(1) Product features and benefits

(2) Working principles and basic selection criteria

  • Select appropriate models from Edwards and Kay catalogues based on:

(1) Flow, pressure/vacuum level

(2) Operating conditions, utilities, and duty cycle

  • Provide basic application support, and involve senior team/principals when application is complex.


3) Offers, Follow-ups & Order Closure

  • Prepare and submit techno-commercial offers in coordination with management:

(1) Technical specifications

(2) Scope of supply

(3) Pricing, taxes, delivery terms

(4) Warranty and service terms

  • Ensure quotations are clear, professional, and submitted on time.
  • Track and follow up on:

(1) Inquiries received

(2) Quotations submitted

(3) Tenders / project offers

  • Conduct regular follow-ups via:

(1) Phone calls

(2) Emails

(3) WhatsApp

(4) Personal visits

  • Participate in technical and commercial discussions and support in negotiations within company policies.
  • Work towards closing orders within defined timelines and achieving monthly/quarterly targets.

4) Customer Relationship Management

  • Build strong working relationships with:

(1) Maintenance and project engineers

(2) Purchase executives

(3) Plant heads and decision-makers

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through:

(1) Prompt response to queries

(2) Transparent communication on price, delivery, and service

  • Promote repeat business for:

(1) Spares and accessories

(2) Service contracts (AMC)

(3) Upgradations and replacements

  • Conduct periodic visits to key accounts to identify new opportunities and maintain trust.


5) Coordination with Service & Internal Teams

  • Coordinate with internal service team for:

(1) Installation and commissioning

(2) Attending breakdown calls

(3) Warranty and post-warranty support

  • Share clear and accurate information about:

(1) Site conditions

(2) Equipment installed

(3) Nature of issues reported

  • Provide field feedback on:

(1) Product performance

(2) Competitor activity and pricing

(3) Common customer pain points

  • Work closely with management on:

(1) Pricing approvals

(2) Special terms for large/strategic orders

(3) Territory development plans


6) Reporting, Documentation & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain accurate records of:

(1) Daily visits and calls

(2) New inquiries and status

(3) Quotations and expected closures

(4) Orders booked

  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports in the prescribed format (Excel/Sheets/CRM).
  • Track developments like:

(1) New plants and expansions

(2) Major tenders and projects

(3) Entry of new competitors or products

  • Share insights from the field to help refine sales strategy and focus.


Candidate ProfileEducation

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Mechanical/Production/Industrial engineering background preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of industrial / technical sales experience in:

(1) Pumps

(2) Blowers

(3) Compressors

(4) Vacuum systems

(5) Rotating equipment

(6) Or related industrial machinery

  • Experience with industrial plants, OEMs, and project sales is an added advantage.
  • Motivated freshers with strong interest in field sales may also be considered.

Skills & Competencies

  • Good understanding of basic mechanical concepts, especially rotating equipment.
  • Ability to learn technical details of vacuum pumps and blowers quickly.
  • Communication skills:

(1) English – for emails, offers, basic discussions

(2) Gujarati and/or Hindi – for day-to-day customer interactions

  • Comfortable with:

(1) Field work and plant visits

(2) Cold calling and meeting new customers

  • Target-oriented and self-driven, with ability to work independently in the field.
  • Basic computer skills:

(1) MS Excel (data entry, simple reports)

(2) Email (drafting, attachments)

(3) WhatsApp (sharing documents, location, communication)

(4) Basic Word/PDF for quotations and letters

  • Strong follow-up, time management, and planning.


Personal Attributes

  • Willingness to travel extensively within Gujarat and occasionally to Rajasthan.
  • Possession of a two-wheeler and valid license is preferred.
  • Positive attitude, integrity, and a long-term career mindset.
  • Comfort working in a growing, owner-driven organization with visible responsibilities.
