Database Administrator (DBA)
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our database systems to ensure high availability, security, reliability, and performance. You will collaborate closely with product engineering, DevOps, and security teams to support mission-critical applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the leadership team in defining database reliability, scalability, and performance objectives.
- Manage, monitor, and optimize SQL and NoSQL database environments across development, staging, and production.
- Perform database administration tasks such as installation, upgrades, backup, recovery, replication, security, and capacity planning.
- Ensure database performance tuning, query optimization, and proactive monitoring to reduce downtime and improve system efficiency.
- Champion incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues, driving improvements to MTTD and MTTR.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning and automation.
- Work closely with the security and compliance team to enforce best practices in data security, auditing, and governance.
- Stay updated on emerging database technologies and help evaluate and pilot them in production.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
- Proven expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Cosmos DB, etc.).
- Experience with backup, recovery, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, profiling, and monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.). Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud platform and managed database services such as Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and PostgreSQL on Azure.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices, RESTful APIs, and integration of databases into modern application stacks.
- Proficiency with Linux and Windows system administration relevant to database management.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Any cloud or database certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
