Job Title - Category Manager - Machining Job Description / Mission Category Manager will be responsible for managing the sourcing strategy and supplier relationships for the machining category, ensuring cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain optimization. The position requires a strong technical understanding of material, machining, Castings, Heat Treatment processes, as well as excellent negotiation and project management skills. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, quality, and logistics to drive cost savings, ensure supplier performance, and support new product development (NPD) initiatives. Key Responsibilities Sourcing Strategy : Develop and implement sourcing strategies for the machining category, focusing on quality improvement, delivery, cost reduction, risk management and Sustainability. Identify and evaluate new suppliers, focusing on localization efforts and ensuring alignment with company goals for global sourcing. Conduct make-or-buy analysis to determine the most cost-effective supply chain solutions. Supplier Management: Manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring that they meet performance standards related to quality, delivery, and cost. Lead negotiations with suppliers on pricing, terms, and contracts. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, driving continuous improvement and corrective actions as needed. Cost Management: Lead cost-saving initiatives through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, and value engineering. Collaborate with finance teams to develop cost models and drive the annual cost reduction plan. Identify opportunities for cost reduction through localization, vertical integration, and long-term agreements with strategic suppliers. New Product Development (NPD) Support: Work closely with engineering, R&D, and production teams to ensure supplier readiness for new product development projects. Experience Requirements Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in sourcing, preferably in machining category. Experience working with global suppliers in the metal fabrication industry. Knowledge Strong understanding of Casting, machining, heat treatment process. Proficiency in cost modeling, spend analysis, and supplier negotiations. Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
