About the Role

The Assistant Manager- IT will be responsible for overseeing and managing the complete lifecycle of all IT assets across the organization. This includes both Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM) functions. The role ensures compliance, efficiency, and optimization in IT asset utilization by defining and enforcing policies, establishing processes, and maintaining accurate asset records.

This position requires strong analytical, operational, and leadership skills to drive IT asset management maturity across the company.

A Day in the Life

• Own and manage the complete lifecycle of all IT assets — from procurement and deployment to retirement and disposal.
• Maintain a central, accurate inventory of all hardware and software assets across the organization.
• Oversee Software Asset Management (SAM) — track licenses, renewals, usage, and compliance for all software vendors.
• Lead Hardware Asset Management (HAM) — ensure proper tagging, allocation, tracking, and environmentally compliant disposal of all hardware.
• Define, implement, and continuously improve IT Asset Management (ITAM) policies and processes aligned with ITIL and company standards.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, and IT operations teams to manage asset purchases, renewals, and vendor relationships.
• Drive compliance and audit readiness — ensure all licenses, contracts, and assets meet legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to license violations, underutilized assets, or data exposure from decommissioned hardware.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, governance frameworks, and compliance checklists to standardize asset operations.
• Analyze asset data to identify cost optimization and efficiency opportunities across software and hardware portfolios.
• Generate and present regular reports on asset utilization, total cost of ownership (TCO), compliance status, and renewal forecasts.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by providing insights on asset spend, depreciation, and lifecycle costs.
• Champion process automation and continuous improvement in asset tracking, procurement workflows, and reporting systems.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation and ensuring full compliance.
• Promote awareness and adherence to asset policies across departments through training, communication, and collaboration.
