Role Objective:

To build and lead a robust Supplier Quality Assurance function that ensures the delivery of defect-free components and products from India and China suppliers. The role requires end-to-end ownership of supplier quality systems, process audits, COPQ reduction, team leadership, and proactive resolution of cross-border quality challenges across electric bicycles, toys, motor-driven toy cars, and RC toys.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Strategic Leadership

 Lead and mentor the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) team, ensuring ownership, accountability, and performance culture.

 Develop and deploy a supplier quality strategy aligned with product complexity, sourcing geography, and NPD timelines.

 Serve as the quality gatekeeper for all incoming parts across the India & China supply base.

✅ Supplier Quality Management (India & China)

 Oversee supplier qualification, audits, and onboarding in collaboration with sourcing and design

teams.

 Drive pre-dispatch inspections, first-article approvals (FAI), and PPAP for key components.

 Build strong relationships with suppliers and ensure strict compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.

 Monitor and drive improvement in Supplier PPM, NCR closure, and On-Time Quality Delivery.

✅ COPQ Reduction & Quality Systems

 Lead Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives by identifying top issues and driving structured problem solving (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).

 Own and continuously improve supplier quality KPIs, dashboards, and early warning systems for

recurring issues.

 Support implementation and audits of quality systems like ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or applicable toy safety standards (e.g., BIS, ASTM F963, EN 71).

✅ Product Categories & Component Coverage

 Ensure robust quality management for a wide range of products, including:

o Electric Bicycles (Frames, batteries, motors, controllers, wiring harnesses)

o Toys & RC Vehicles (plastics, electronic modules, gearboxes, decals, remote units, motors)

o Motor-driven toy cars (chassis, motors, paint quality, interior fit-finish)

✅ Process Audits & Continuous Improvement

 Conduct Process Capability Studies, Process and System Audits at supplier locations in India and China.

 Drive continuous improvement projects with suppliers on yield, rework, and defect reduction using Lean, 6σ, Kaizen methodologies.

✅ Cross-functional & International Coordination

 Work closely with cross-functional teams including Design, R&D, Compliance, Production, and Procurement.

 Ensure seamless collaboration with Chinese QA partners or inspection agencies to bridge language and cultural gaps.

 Handle field failure investigations and RCA for export markets with regulatory implications (EU, US, GCC compliance).

Key Requirements:

Education:

 B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering

Experience:

 10–15 years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality / Vendor Quality / Global Sourcing QA

 Minimum 3–5 years in leadership role managing team

 Prior exposure to India and China supplier base is mandatory

 Experience in consumer durables, EVs, toys, electronics, or auto components is highly desirable

Technical Skills:

 Strong command over quality tools: 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, MSA, SPC, CAPA, Control Plan, PPAP

 Working knowledge of inspection tools, test methods for mechanical & electrical parts

 Familiarity with BIS, ASTM, ISO 8124, EN 71, RoHS, and other toy/E-bike relevant quality standards

Behavioral & Soft Skills:

 Strong leadership, interpersonal, and supplier negotiation skills

 Ability to handle multi-cultural teams and overseas suppliers

 Hands-on, data-driven, and decision-oriented

 Willingness to travel (India & China)
