to connect them with exceptional tech professionals for this role.We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior GIS Engineer to lead and drive advanced geospatial initiatives that support the development of catastrophe risk models within the Extreme Event Solutions (EES) team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in GIS, Remote Sensing, Python automation, spatial databases, and applied Machine Learning/AI for geospatial analytics. In addition to strong technical skills, this role requires proven people management and leadership capabilities to mentor team members, coordinate with global stakeholders, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of projects. The position balances hands-on technical contributions with team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and end-to-end ownership of project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and integration of GIS and Remote Sensing components in EES model development.Manage large-scale geospatial datasets, ensuring high standards of data quality, structure, and usability.Perform and oversee complex spatial data processing tasks such as digitization, geo-referencing, projection transformations, and raster/vector conversions.Conduct advanced remote sensing analysis including image classification, object-based analysis, and LiDAR/DEM/DSM data processing.Develop and maintain spatial databases and repositories to support model development.Source, integrate, and validate elevation, land use, soil, and infrastructure exposure data from multiple national and international platforms.Automate geoprocessing workflows using Python and scripting tools to enhance efficiency and consistency.Apply Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques for tasks such as building footprint extraction, land cover classification, and predictive modeling.Interpret and validate analytical results, presenting them clearly through maps, dashboards, charts, and technical reports.Coordinate effectively with team members across Hyderabad and Boston DTG & Exposure teams, taking ownership of daily tasks and project deliverables, and ensuring timely updates and collaboration with the Boston team on a daily or as-needed basis.Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to ensure best practices are followed.Prepare high-quality technical documentation, SOPs, and client-facing deliverables.Represent the team in cross-functional discussions, reviews, and planning meetings.Qualifications
Education:M.Tech / M.Sc / B.Tech in Geo-Informatics, Geography, Remote Sensing & GIS, or a related field in Spatial TechnologiesExperience
Minimum 7 years of professional experience in GIS, Remote Sensing, or Spatial AnalyticsProven ability to lead geospatial projects and coordinate with cross-location teamsGeospatial Tools & Software
Expert-level proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, IDRISI, and Google Earth ProFamiliarity with ArcGIS extensions: Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Image Analyst, Network AnalystProgramming & Automation
Advanced proficiency in Python and geospatial libraries:ArcPy, GDAL, GeoPandas, Rasterio, Fiona, Shapely, PyProjExperience with SQL and R for spatial queries and analysisProven ability to build and maintain automated workflows for geospatial processingMachine Learning & AI
Experience applying ML/DL techniques to GIS data (e.g., object detection, classification, spatial clustering)Familiarity with scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is a plusData Handling & Analysis
