Senior GIS Engineer II

As a Senior GIS Engineer at Verisk, you will lead and drive advanced geospatial initiatives within the Extreme Event Solutions (EES) team. Your role will involve a balance between hands-on technical contributions, team leadership, and ensuring timely project delivery. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading the design, development, and integration of GIS and Remote Sensing components in EES model development. - Managing large-scale geospatial datasets to ensure data quality, structure, and usability. - Overseeing complex spatial data processing tasks such as digitization, geo-referencing, and raster/vector conversions. - Conducting advanced remote sensing analysis, including image classification and LiDAR/DEM/DSM data processing. - Developing and maintaining spatial databases to support model development. - Automating geoprocessing workflows using Python and scripting tools. - Applying Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques for tasks such as building footprint extraction and predictive modeling. - Interpreting and validating analytical results, presenting them clearly through various mediums. - Mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance. - Preparing technical documentation, SOPs, and client-facing deliverables. - Representing the team in cross-functional discussions and planning meetings. Qualifications required for this role include: - Education: M.Tech / M.Sc / B.Tech in Geo-Informatics, Geography, Remote Sensing & GIS, or a related field in Spatial Technologies - Experience: Minimum 7 years of professional experience in GIS, Remote Sensing, or Spatial Analytics - Geospatial Tools & Software: Expert-level proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, IDRISI, and Google Earth Pro - Programming & Automation: Advanced proficiency in Python and geospatial libraries such as ArcPy, GDAL, GeoPandas, and more - Machine Learning & AI: Experience applying ML/DL techniques to GIS data - Data Handling & Analysis: Strong skills in handling raster, vector, and LiDAR datasets - Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional coordination In addition to the technical requirements, Verisk has been a leading data analytics and technology partner to the global insurance industry for over 50 years.
