Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Business Requirements & Functional Design:
- Proactively collaborate with senior business stakeholders to deeply understand their strategic goals, user journeys, operational challenges, and underlying business needs, success outcomes and requirements.
- Translate complex business problems and user needs into clear, comprehensive, and actionable functional requirements document’s (FRD’s), user stories, use cases, and business rules, ensuring alignment with product vision.
- Challenge assumptions, ask probing questions, and conduct in-depth analysis to uncover root causes and define optimal functional solutions, considering user experience and operational efficiency.
- Develop comprehensive business cases, including ROI analysis and feasibility studies, to support proposed functional solutions.
2. Advanced Business Process Optimization & Design:
- Lead the analysis and holistic mapping of current-state business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for significant improvement across various functional domains.
- Design and model future-state business processes and workflows using industry best practices (e.g., BPMN, Lean principles) that enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness, and user experience.
- Drive the implementation of process changes, monitor their impact, and work with business stakeholders to ensure successful adoption and continuous improvement.
3. Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a primary liaison and influencer between diverse business stakeholders (including senior management), product owners, UX/UI designers, development teams (for functional understanding), and QA teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and shared understanding of functional scope throughout the project lifecycle.
- Expertly facilitate high-stakes workshops, discovery sessions, and conflict resolution discussions to gather critical functional input, build consensus, and manage expectations across competing priorities.
- Provide proactive and transparent updates to all relevant business stakeholders, anticipating needs and addressing concerns to ensure project success.
4. Comprehensive Functional Documentation & Knowledge Management:
- Develop and maintain detailed, high-quality functional specifications, user stories with robust acceptance criteria, process flow diagrams, user journey maps, and data dictionaries (from a business perspective) that serve as the single source of truth for functional solutions.
- Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, accessible, and supports seamless development, functional testing, user training, and ongoing operational activities.
- Contribute to establishing and refining functional documentation standards and best practices within the team.
5. Agile Product Collaboration & Functional Delivery:
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners to define product roadmaps, prioritize and refine the product backlog, focusing on functional scope and business value.
- Actively participate in and drive efficiency in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, impactful functional solutions.
- Work intimately with the QA team to define comprehensive functional test strategies and cases, ensuring thorough validation of business requirements and system functionality from a user perspective.
6. Continuous Improvement & Mentorship:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business analysis, process improvement, and relevant functional domains.
- Proactively identify and champion opportunities to enhance business processes, systems, tools, and overall team efficiency from a functional standpoint.
- Mentor, guide, and review the work of junior and mid-level Business Analysts, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and excellence within the team.
- Contribute to the development of BA methodologies and frameworks within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst or Lead Business Analyst capacity, demonstrating leadership in delivering successful IT/Product solutions from a functional perspective.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex business problem-solving, with a strong ability to break down ambiguous, multi-faceted business challenges into actionable, structured functional solutions.
- Proven understanding and hands-on experience with the end-to-end product development lifecycle from a functional standpoint, including strategic planning, user experience definition, functional design, testing, and post-launch optimization.
- Strong proficiency in business analysis tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Miro) and deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies. Experience with Waterfall is a plus.
- Expertise in business process modeling techniques (e.g., BPMN, UML) and requirements management tools.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage, influence, and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, CSPO, or SAFe PO/PM are highly valued.
- BABOK, CBAP or similar framework/certification would be an added advantage.
- Experience in mentoring junior BAs or leading small BA teams is essential.
- Domain-specific experience (e.g., FinTech, E-commerce, Healthcare, Supply Chain) relevant to our industry is a significant advantage.
