Production Manager

We are looking for a Production Manager – Surface Treatment & Coating Processes

Location: Ludhiana, Punjab.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to oversee all production activities in our surface treatment and coating processes. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in processes such as Powder Coating, Electro‑Deposition (ED), Zinc, Nickel, Phosphating, Paint application, and Water Treatment. The role demands strong leadership, process control, quality assurance, safety & environmental compliance and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Planning & Execution
• Develop and implement production plans (monthly, weekly, daily) to meet order schedules and delivery targets.
• Allocate resources (manpower, machinery, materials) across the surface treatment, coating, paint, and water treatment processes to optimize throughput.
• Monitor production workflows to ensure smooth operation from pre‑treatment through final coating and finishing.
• Process Management & Technical Expertise
• Maintain deep technical knowledge of each process: pretreatment, phosphating, zincing, nickel plating, ED coating, powder coating (application & curing), painting (wet / enamel / stoving).
• Manage the Water Treatment / Effluent Treatment Plant processes: chemical dosing, pH control, temperature, filtration, ensuring compliance with environmental norms.
• Ensure proper control of process parameters (time, temperature, chemical concentration, flow, curing) to achieve desired surface properties (adhesion, corrosion resistance, finish, thickness etc.).
• Quality Assurance
• Establish and enforce quality standards and inspection procedures (e.g. coating thickness, adhesion tests, salt spray / corrosion resistance, visual finish).
• Perform root-cause analyses on defects, rework, or customer complaints, and implement corrective / preventive actions.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and ensure compliance with relevant quality systems (e.g. ISO, if applicable).
• Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Uphold safety protocols: PPE, chemical handling, fire safety, safe handling of hazardous substances.
• Ensure treatment of effluent, waste disposal, emissions, and operations adhere to statutory / regulatory standards.
• Promote 5S / housekeeping / environmental best practices in the plant / shop floor.
• Team & Resource Management
• Lead and manage supervisors, operators and technicians in multiple shifts (if applicable).
• Train, mentor, monitor performance; conduct performance reviews.
• Optimize manpower utilization; ensure that staffing is adequate and cross‑trained.
• Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
• Schedule and oversee preventive/predictive maintenance of all critical equipment: coating lines, ovens, curing / stoving units, control panels, chemical dosing and tanks, etc.
• Reduce downtime; ensure timely repair of breakdowns; maintain calibration of test instruments.
• Cost Control & Efficiency / Waste Reduction
• Track consumption of raw materials: chemicals, powders, paints, utilities (water, electricity), and implement measures to reduce waste and cost.
• Monitor rejects / rework / scrap rates and strive for continuous improvement.
• Drive process improvements, lean practices, Kaizen etc., to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.
• Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Prepare regular MIS / reports: production vs target, quality metrics, cost of production, utilization, chemical usage, downtime etc.
• Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monitor them consistently.
• Initiate / lead improvement projects to raise quality, throughput, safety, and cost effectiveness.
• Coordination & Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Safety / EHS, Stores / Procurement, Dispatch / Logistics to achieve smooth operations.
• Ensure customer specifications and expectations are met.
• Participate in audits (internal / external), regulatory inspections, and customer visits where required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 8‑12 years of experience in manufacturing / surface treatment / finishing / coating environment, dealing with multiple coating & treatment processes (Powder Coating, ED, Zinc, Nickel, Phosphating, Painting etc.).
• At least 3‑5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
• Strong exposure to Water Treatment / Effluent Treatment Plant operations.
• Sound knowledge of process parameters and control (chemistry, temperature, time, curing profiles etc.).
• Experience with quality testing tools/instruments (thickness gauges, adhesion testers, salt spray / corrosion chambers).
• Knowledge of safety, environmental, legal compliance related to chemical processes.
• Leadership skills: ability to build, train, and motivate teams.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate across departments and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in computer tools: MS Office / Excel, MIS / ERP systems.

Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.Sc / B.Tech in Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering / relevant discipline. Additional qualifications or certifications in Surface Coating / Paint Technology will be a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹71,000.00 per month
