Planning Head

Role Summary

The Head of Planning is responsible for end-to-end production, material, and capacity planning for CRGO steel manufacturing/processing operations. This includes demand forecasting, master production scheduling, raw-material planning (HRGO/CRGO coils), slitting and annealing line planning, inventory optimization, and coordination with sales, procurement, and manufacturing teams to achieve OTIF delivery, minimum scrap levels, and optimum mill utilization.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop long-, medium-, and short-term production plans for CRGO operations, covering slitting, annealing, cutting, testing, and finishing lines.
• Prepare Master Production Schedule (MPS) in alignment with sales orders, coil availability, and machine capacity.
• Allocate coils optimally based on grade, width, core losses, and technical parameters.
• Monitor adherence to daily/weekly production plans and resolve bottlenecks.

2. Material & Inventory Planning

• Plan raw-material requirement (CRGO coils, HRGO input material, insulation coatings, consumables).
• Optimize coil utilization to minimize scrap and offcuts; improve yield.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels (safety stock, reorder levels) and reduce slow-moving/aging stock.
• Coordinate GRN, warehousing, and coil traceability (heat/lot tracking).

3. Demand Forecasting & Sales Coordination

• Convert customer forecasts and sales orders into monthly planning.
• Work closely with sales, technical marketing, and key account teams to plan high-grade requirements (H0, M0H, M3/M4, domain-refined grades, laser-scribed grades).
• Plan order prioritization based on customer urgency, export timelines, and profit contribution.

4. Capacity Planning & Optimization

• Conduct regular capacity assessments of slitting lines, annealing furnaces, CTC lines, stress-relief annealing (SRA) furnaces, and testing labs.
• Identify debottlenecking opportunities and plan machine loading to maximize throughput.
• Implement lean planning methods (SMED, line balancing, OEE simulation).

5. Coordination With Cross-Functional Teams

• Work closely with Procurement for timely coil sourcing.
• Collaborate with Quality to incorporate grade constraints, losses, and compliance parameters.
• Coordinate with Production to monitor progress, downtime, and deviations.
• Partner with Maintenance to align preventive maintenance schedules with production plans.

6. Systems, Data & Reporting

• Implement and maintain planning modules in SAP / Oracle / ERP / MES systems.
• Drive digitization of coil allocation, production tracking, and yield reporting.
• Provide KPIs: OTIF, yield %, scrap %, machine utilization, inventory turns, forecast accuracy.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Lead cost-reduction initiatives in production planning, coil utilization, and logistics.
• Introduce best practices from global CRGO/steel processing standards.
• Drive process standardization, SOP creation, and team capability building.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of CRGO grades, electrical steel characteristics, slitting parameters, annealing cycles, and core-loss requirements.
• Expertise in production planning, supply chain management, S&OP, and lean manufacturing.
• Proficiency in ERP/MES systems (SAP PP/MM, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
