  • Role Overview

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day production, ensuring smooth workflow, quality output, timely delivery, and cost efficiency in a mid-level printing and packaging unit. The role requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and hands-on industry experience to manage teams, optimize resources, and maintain customer satisfaction.


  • Key Responsibilities


Production & Process Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor all printing and packaging operations.
  • Ensure production schedules are met with optimum efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and improve turnaround.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, and preventive servicing.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Monitor product quality and ensure adherence to customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop and enforce quality control processes at every stage.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Team & Resource Management

  • Lead, train, and supervise production supervisors, operators, and support staff.
  • Allocate manpower and resources effectively to meet daily production goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination

  • Oversee procurement of raw materials (papers, inks, packaging supplies) and maintain optimum inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely delivery of inputs.
  • Maintain cost control while ensuring uninterrupted supply chain.

Customer & Business Support

  • Work closely with the sales team to understand client requirements and translate them into production plans.
  • Ensure timely order fulfillment and resolve operational issues affecting customer satisfaction.
  • Support management with data-driven insights on efficiency, costs, and profitability.

Reporting & MIS

  • Track and analyze production data, efficiency metrics, downtime, and wastage.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports for senior management.
  • Suggest process improvements and investment needs for scaling operations.

Key Skills & Competencies


  • Strong knowledge of printing & packaging machinery and processes.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple orders, tight deadlines, and client-specific requirements.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MIS tools for production tracking and reporting.
  • Attention to detail with focus on quality and safety.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate in Printing Technology / Packaging Technology / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 3–15 years of experience in printing & packaging industry, with at least 1 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Experience in managing medium-scale operations with a workforce of 50–200.
