Position Overview:

The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a wet waste collection and processing facility. The role involves managing people, optimizing plant processes, maintaining safety and quality standards, liaising with customers and stakeholders, and ensuring effective management reporting and client billing. The goal is to achieve operational efficiency, meet customer needs, and drive plant productivity.

Duro Green is an ambitiously growing startup wet waste management company, operating in multiple locations across Gujarat envisioning to increase the waste processed to 350 tons per day by 2030.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Plant Operations Management:

  • Oversee day to day operations of the wet waste processing plant, including the handling, processing, and composting of wet waste.
  • Ensure adherence to operational plans, processing schedules, and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and improve plant efficiency, reduce downtime, and maximize output while maintaining quality standards.

2. Team Management:

  • Recruit Lead and manage a team of waste collection supervisors, plant operators, and other staff members.
  • Plan and oversee staffing schedules, shift management, and work allocation to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Implement and enforce SOPs to ensure consistency and efficiency in team performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and training, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive work culture, addressing issues promptly, and promoting teamwork and motivation.

3. ERP, Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reporting:

  • Manage ERP and other software systems for accurate data recording and tracking of operations.
  • Generate and analyze regular MIS (Management Information System) reports, including productivity, cost, inventory, and other key metrics, to support data driven decisions.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update SOPs to reflect industry best practices and company standards.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs by team members across all sites.

4. Customer Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a point of contact for key clients, addressing their needs and ensuring timely communication.
  • Work closely with clients to resolve issues, develop solutions, and maintain strong client relationships.

5. Project Planning and Execution:

  • Plan, execute, and monitor assigned waste management projects, ensuring on time and on budget completion.
  • Develop project schedules, resource allocation plans, and budgets.
  • Manage project risks and proactively identify and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Track project progress and report to stakeholders.

6. Cost Reduction and Operational Efficiency:

  • Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction and resource optimization across operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

7. Liaison and Coordination:

  • Liaise with internal departments such as logistics, procurement, and finance to align plant operations with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government agencies and regulatory bodies, to maintain compliance and drive strategic partnerships.

8. Compliance and Safety:

  • Oversee the proper collection, processing, and disposal of waste according to regulations and client requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols across the plant operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions to minimize workplace hazards.
  • Maintain all necessary safety certifications and compliance with regulatory standards.

9. Billing Cycle Management:

  • Oversee and ensure accurate client billing, from collection schedules to service agreements and financial reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to manage invoicing and resolve any billing related issues.
  • Monitor and manage the collection of payments from clients, ensuring adherence to payment terms and conditions.

Technical Skills:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, MBA or any other related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years in plant operations, waste management, or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of waste management regulations, processes, best practices, and billing procedures.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using relevant software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP and data reporting systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in waste management.
