The Senior Manager - Compliance & Ethics will serve as a key liaison for Optum's operations in India, promoting a solid culture of compliance and ethical conduct. This role is responsible for overseeing compliance-related processes, evaluating risks, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. The position reports to the India Country Compliance Officer and plays a critical role in implementing standardized policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct compliance investigations and monitor corrective actions
  • Support the development and enhancement of country-specific procedures, guidelines, and controls
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on risk identification and mitigation strategies
  • Design and maintain effective compliance training programs, including promotion of the Compliance Hotline and Code of Conduct awareness
  • Deliver in-person and web-based compliance training sessions for employees and third parties
  • Manage third-party vendor onboarding and risk assessments, considering organizational impact
  • Develop and execute monitoring and testing plans, including metrics and coverage strategies
  • Identify, aggregate, report, and escalate compliance risks and control gaps
  • Assist in governance routines and management reporting
  • Support preparations for regulatory exams and audits
  • Collaborate with legal and support partners to implement compliance best practices
  • Consult with attorneys and professionals on complex compliance matters
  • Provide leadership and accountability across multiple layers of management
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of UnitedHealthcare's compliance program
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so


Other Responsibilities:

  • Work with the other support partners closely to implement the best practices.
  • Consults with attorneys and other professionals on compliance matters.
  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the compliance program within UnitedHealthcare.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; graduate degree preferred
  • Educational background: CA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in ethics and compliance, or strategic advisory roles in areas such as: Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering; Conflicts of Interest; Fraud Prevention; Due Diligence & Third-Party Risk Management
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills with a proactive, independent mindset
  • Proven exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change


Preferred Qualification:

  • Working knowledge of data analytics and its application in compliance monitoring
