  We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in building scalable, maintainable backend systems using modern programming languages and frameworks. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust server-side solutions, building real-time data pipelines, and ensuring high-quality, automated testing and deployment processes. Core Responsibilities Technical Leadership Own and drive the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable, and high-performance solutions. Provide architectural guidance and ensure alignment with squad and platform standards. Lead technical deep dives and proactively identify areas for optimisation or innovation. Delivery Ownership Take end-to-end responsibility for key features or services, from planning through deployment and monitoring. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into actionable engineering tasks. Ensure timely delivery of sprint commitments and proactively manage risks and blockers. Mentorship & Collaboration Support junior engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing. Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the squad. Act as a point of escalation for complex engineering challenges. Quality & Reliability Champion best practices in testing, observability, and CI/CD. Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis for critical issues. Drive improvements in system reliability, performance, and maintainability. Platform & Process Contribution Contribute to platform-wide initiatives such as cost optimisation, tooling improvements, and infrastructure upgrades. Influence and evolve engineering processes to improve team efficiency and delivery quality. Represent the squad in cross-team technical forums and working groups. Stakeholder Engagement Communicate technical decisions and progress clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with platform teams to resolve dependencies and align on shared goals. Required Skills and Qualifications 8+ years of professional experience in backend development. Expert proficiency in at least one of the core programming languages: Java (v11+), Groovy, Golang, Kotlin. Extensive experience with Spring Boot and Spring Batch frameworks. Strong command over RESTful API design and integration best practices. Proven experience in stream processing and real-time data pipelines with tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or GCP DataFlow. Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL including complex query optimization and data modeling; experience with MongoDB is a plus. Solid understanding and hands-on experience with ETL workflows and large-scale data pipeline design. Strong background in automated testing frameworks like JUnit, Spock, and Cucumber. Proficient in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure management using containerization and IaC tools. Experience with monitoring, logging, and ing tools, especially Datadog. Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools such as GitLab and Jenkins. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in Agile teams. Nice to Have Experience with microservices architecture. Knowledge of additional DevOps tools and automation frameworks. Exposure to security best practices in backend development.
