Job Summary
The Lab Manager oversees the operational efficiency, safety, and strategic direction of a high-performance technical testing environment for next-generation consumer electronics, including smartphones, tablets, and wearables. The role requires a balance of people leadership, lab infrastructure management, and close coordination with engineering and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and enforce safety protocols such as Electrical Safety, RF Safety, and ESD protection, ensuring full compliance with internal and external standards.
- Oversee procurement, installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of specialized lab equipment including environmental chambers, RF anechoic chambers, signal analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Manage inventory, BOM, logistics, and secure handling of prototype hardware while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and security procedures.
- Develop and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lean Lab processes to enhance throughput, reduce downtime, and improve test accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Lab Technicians and support staff, fostering a culture centered on safety, quality, and high performance.
- Manage staffing schedules, training, and workload distribution to ensure optimal coverage across multiple concurrent product development programs.
- Serve as the primary interface between Lab Operations and cross-functional engineering teams (Electrical, Mechanical, RF, Reliability, Software) to support test planning and resource alignment.
- Collaborate with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to align lab capacity with project roadmaps and ensure support for key NPI milestones.
- Manage the lab’s operational budget, including capital equipment purchases, maintenance contracts, and staffing costs.
- Work with vendors for equipment procurement, calibration services, maintenance, and technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Consumer Electronics or High-Tech Hardware R&D lab environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in people management or a technical team lead role.
- Strong understanding of hardware testing methodologies, including power measurement, RF performance, mechanical stress, and thermal testing.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment calibration, test setup configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proven operational skills in procurement, asset tracking, inventory control (LIMS), and maintenance scheduling.
- Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
