Job Description

  • The Construction lead will bring an extensive background with 25 years of experience in construction, including 15 years specifically managing large-scale solar and wind installations exp of BESS would be an added advantage. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing projects aggregating to 4 GW—comprising solar wind energy. This role demands a visionary leader with deep expertise in both technologies, solutioning mindset, ability to think on the feet, sound cost management skills, people management skill, vendor negotiation, contract implementation and a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management. The Construction lead will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of adherence to internal SoPs, ethics, quality and safety, while fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and resilience. Additionally, the role requires strong capabilities in contract management and negotiation. The incumbent shall also have thorough understanding of optimise manpower dimensioning measures for the department and for all the project running concurrently .
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:

  • Overseeing the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Ensuring effective coordination between internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to address challenges and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Cost Management & Control:

  • Applying sound knowledge of every aspect of costs related to wind and solar projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost estimation, and financial reporting and seamlessly communicate and work with internal teams.
  • Implementing and enforcing robust cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Regularly reviewing financial performance, managing cost overruns, and providing recommendations for financial efficiency and optimization.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and ensuring all projects comply with local, state, and national regulations and standards.
  • Navigating the regulatory landscape across different states to secure necessary approvals, permits, and comply with regional regulations.
  • Implementing and monitoring compliance strategies to avoid legal or regulatory issues and ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
  • Risk Management:

  • Anticipating potential risks associated with project execution, including financial, operational, and regulatory risks, and developing comprehensive risk mitigation plans.
  • Proactively identifying, assessing, and addressing risks to project timelines, budgets, and quality, and implementing effective risk mitigation measures.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and standards to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Assurance:

  • Ensuring all projects meet or exceed industry standards for quality through rigorous quality assurance and control measures.
  • Implementing and monitoring quality management systems throughout the project lifecycle to maintain high standards.
  • Conducting regular quality reviews and inspections to identify and rectify any issues promptly.
  • Leadership & Strategy:

  • Leading and managing the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale solar and wind projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for the successful delivery of projects, aligning with organizational goals and values.
  • Building and nurturing a strong, collaborative team culture based on integrity, accountability, and resilience.
  • Safety Management:

  • Leading the development and implementation of comprehensive safety plans to ensure a safe working environment on all project sites.
  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance with safety regulations and standards among all team members and subcontractors.
  • Regularly reviewing and updating safety protocols to address new risks and ensure ongoing adherence to safety regulations.
  • Concurrent Project Management:

  • Leading and coordinating multiple project teams working on parallel projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and management.
  • Overseeing the execution of concurrent projects, ensuring alignment of goals, synchronization of activities, and effective communication across teams.
  • Balancing priorities and managing dependencies between simultaneous projects to achieve overall organizational objectives.
  • Contract Management:

  • Overseeing the negotiation, drafting, and management of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties.
  • Ensuring that all contracts are executed in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitoring contract performance, addressing any issues or disputes, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met.
  • Managing contract modifications and amendments as necessary, and ensuring all changes are documented and approved.
  • Stakeholder Management:

  • Engaging proactively with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, local communities, and partners, to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.
  • Addressing and resolving any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
  • Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 25 years of experience in construction, with at least 15 years focused on large-scale wind and solar projects.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects totaling 4 GW (solar, wind).
  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide large teams.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Deep understanding of cost management, financial control, and industry standards in wind and solar energy.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory compliance applicable to each state, including securing approvals and adhering to regional regulations.
  • Strong expertise in risk management, with the ability to foresee risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work seamlessly with diverse stakeholders.
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management
