Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the global technical roadmap for Deep Cognition, aligning with the business objective of automating document processing across industries using generative AI and LLMs.
- Assess and adopt emerging technologies (AI/ML, LLMs, computer vision, cloud infrastructure, robotics process automation) that enhance the platform’s capability, accuracy and scalability.
- Set architecture standards, scalability and security policies, and ensure global operational readiness for high-volume document processing.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering organisation, instilling a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
Product & Engineering Leadership
- Oversee the evolution of the PaperEntry AI platform—from ingestion through extraction, validation and export—ensuring the product meets enterprise requirements for accuracy, reliability, security and integration. (Note: the product achieves claims such as “99% accuracy”, “handles any document format”, “no templates or training data required”).
- Drive best practices in software engineering, AI/ML model development, MLOps, data engineering, DevOps, cloud native infrastructure, and CI/CD.
- Build and scale the Bangalore engineering hub: recruit, retain and develop top technical talent; structure teams for rapid delivery; establish processes for product releases, quality assurance and operations.
- Collaborate with Product, UX/Design, Sales and Customer Success teams to ensure that the product roadmap supports customer needs, vertical-specific workflows (e.g., customs brokerage, government document automation) and market differentiation.
AI/ML & Innovation
- Lead R&D efforts to advance generative AI, document-understanding, table and line extraction, multilingual processing, and “no template/training-data” workflows — core differentiators for Deep Cognition’s platform.
- Oversee the lifecycle of AI models: data ingestion, model training, validation, deployment, monitoring and retraining; integrate MLOps practices and governance.
- Ensure AI models and systems comply with data-privacy, security and ethical guidelines — especially given usage in sensitive areas like government agencies and customs.
- Explore and pilot new applications of AI beyond document processing where relevant, creating adjacent growth opportunities.
Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish engineering and operational KPIs: system uptime, throughput (pages/documents processed), accuracy metrics, time-to-value, cost savings, and scalability metrics.
- Oversee infrastructure budgeting, vendor relationships, licensing and technology procurement.
- Be a public face of technology: engage with customers, investors, partners and prospects; articulate Deep Cognition’s technical vision in customer demos, at industry events and in partner engagements.
- Work closely with leadership to support business development, client onboarding, enterprise deployments and global expansion into new geographies and verticals.
Required QualificationsExperience
- Minimum 12+ years in software engineering, AI/ML or product development, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (such as VP Engineering, Head of Technology, CTO).
- Proven experience building and scaling engineering organisations (preferably in India or globally distributed).
- Track record of delivering enterprise-grade SaaS, AI/ML or data-processing products in production, ideally within document processing, logistics, customs, government or high-volume data workflows.
- Deep experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and AI/ML deployment.
Technical Skills
- Strong programming background (Python, Java, or equivalent); hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks, computer vision, NLP, OCR and generative models.
- Architecting solutions for large-scale document processing, high accuracy extraction, data ingestion, and complex workflow automation.
- Good understanding of MLOps, DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, cloud native infrastructure and security/compliance best practices.
- Ability to balance R&D innovation with production engineering rigour.

- Excellent communicator and collaborator—able to translate technical strategy into business outcomes; interact effectively with product, sales, operations and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a global setting with remote/distributed teams (India + US + other geographies).
- Prior startup, scale-up or venture-backed company experience, especially in AI/ML, SaaS or data automation verticals.
- Familiarity with document processing, customs/logistics, government workflows, or intelligent automation markets.
- Prior exposure to fundraising, investor technology due diligence or enterprise-sales support.
