Job Summary:

Position- Category Manager

Location- Bangalore


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Category Manager from the eCommerce industry to manage both business development and daily operations of assigned product categories. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving category growth, managing vendor relationships, optimizing operations, and ensuring end-to-end business performance.


This role requires a mix of strategic planning, commercial negotiation, data analysis, and hands-on operational management.


Key Responsibilities:


Category Management & Strategy:


- Develop and execute growth strategies for assigned categories to meet sales and profitability targets.


- Identify new product opportunities, monitor market trends, and analyze competition.


- Plan product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies in coordination with marketing and sales teams.


Business Development:


- Identify and onboard new vendors, brands, and strategic partners.


- Negotiate commercial terms, margins, and marketing collaborations.


- Build strong relationships with key accounts and suppliers to drive business expansion.


Operations Management:


- Oversee day-to-day category operations including listings, order fulfillment, and inventory management.


- Coordinate with supply chain, warehouse, and logistics teams for smooth operations.


- Monitor stock levels, ensure timely replenishment, and reduce aging inventory.


- Track order accuracy, returns, and fulfillment SLAs.


Performance Tracking & Analysis:


- Monitor category performance metrics (sales, margins, ROI, inventory turns, etc.).


- Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports and business insights for management.


- Use data analytics to identify business growth levers and process improvements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:


- Work closely with marketing, finance, technology, and customer support teams.


- Drive category-specific campaigns, digital promotions, and seasonal launches.


- Ensure seamless execution of operational and commercial strategies.


Key Skills & Competencies:


- Strong understanding of eCommerce platforms, category management, and online retail operations


- Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills


- Data-driven decision-maker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills


- Hands-on experience in managing daily operations and business performance


- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and eCommerce tools (Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, Flipkart, etc.)


- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities


Qualifications:


- Graduate / Postgraduate in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field


- 8-12 years of relevant experience in category management or business operations within an eCommerce company


- Proven track record in driving category growth and operational efficiency
