Job Description

Key Responsibilities


1. Financial Reporting & Analysis


  • Manage the entire month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with Indian GAAP and USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry).
  • Prepare detailed Management Information System (MIS) reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs), variance analysis against budget and forecast, and profitability statements.
  • Present financial results and strategic recommendations to the General Manager and ownership/corporate team.


2. Statutory & Tax Compliance (Core Responsibility)


  • Serve as the primary custodian for all Indian tax and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure accurate calculation, timely payment, and filing of all returns related to:
  • GST (Goods and Services Tax), including reconciliation and handling all audits/notices.
  • TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) on vendor payments, salaries, etc.
  • Income Tax, Professional Tax, and other local cess/taxes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to statutory liabilities such as Provident Fund (PF) and Employees' State Insurance (ESI), and handle payroll compliance matters.
  • Liaise effectively with tax authorities, consultants, and statutory auditors.


3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning


  • Lead the annual operating budget and capital expenditure budget preparation processes in collaboration with department heads.
  • Develop accurate, rolling financial forecasts (e.g., 3-month, 6-month outlooks) that reflect market conditions and operational strategy.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and financial evaluations for proposed projects, new services, or major capital investments.


4. Internal Controls & Operations Management


  • Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control procedures across all revenue, expenditure, and inventory cycles to prevent fraud and minimize risk.
  • Oversee the complete accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets Register.
  • Manage the hotel's working capital, optimizing cash flow and managing bank relationships efficiently.
  • Supervise the daily revenue audit process to ensure the integrity of cash handling and revenue recognition.


5. Team Leadership & Audit Management


  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the entire Finance & Accounts team.
  • Coordinate and manage all internal, statutory, and tax audits, ensuring all required documentation is prepared and provided accurately and efficiently.


Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce/Finance if no professional qualification is held.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, with at least 3 years in a management capacity within the Hotel/Hospitality industry in India.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Indian Statutory Compliance (GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF/ESI).
