Vice President Operations

Position Title: Vice President - Operations

Location: OEL Heavy Engineering Division, Kalol (Ahmedabad), Gujarat.

A senior operational leader responsible for end-to-end manufacturing performance, operational excellence, and strategic capacity scaling in the delivery of static process equipment (Shell & Tube heat exchangers, Process skids & Modular packages, Piping Equipment).

The role combines hands-on plant leadership with strategic planning for growth, automation, and technology adoption, while owning divisional P&L and CAPEX planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1.) Operations Leadership:

• Direct manufacturing across welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, and dispatch.
• Ensure Safety, Quality, on-time delivery targets and cost are consistently achieved.

2.) Financial & Strategic Accountability:

• Own divisional P&L; set budgets, drive cost optimization, and prepare quarterly forecasts.
• Lead CAPEX planning for automation, robotics, and specialized metallurgy lines.
• Develop and execute a capacity & technology roadmap aligned with business growth.

3.) Operational Excellence:

• Implement Lean, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and standard work systems to raise productivity and OEE.
• Drive digital manufacturing initiatives (MES/ERP) for traceability and efficiency.

4.) Compliance & Quality:

• Ensure adherence to statutory, environmental, and international standards (ASME, ISO, PED).
• Lead QA/QC functions: root-cause analysis, first-pass yield improvement, and customer complaint closure.

5.) Supply Chain Resilience:

• Develop strategic vendors, manage approvals, optimize inventory, and oversee import management.

6.) Leadership & People Development:

• Build and coach a strong plant leadership team across production, planning, QA/QC, maintenance, HSE.
• Define KRAs, KPIs, and succession plans, drive performance management systems.

7.) Safety & Culture:

• Champion HSE practices with a zero-harm focus and embed safety-first culture across operations.

Experience:

1. 20+ years in heavy manufacturing, with 8–10 years in senior leadership roles.
2. Minimum 5 years as VP / Head of Operations / Plant Head in Static equipment’s / Process Packages.
3. Proven expertise in heat exchangers, pressure vessels, columns, reactors, or process skids.
4. Exposure to exotic alloys (nickel, duplex, stainless grades) preferred.

Education:

1. BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production.
2. MBA in Operations preferred.

Technical & Compliance:

1. Hands-on knowledge of ASME codes, welding standards, NDT methods, and client approval processes.
