Param is a not for profit science and culture project that builds public experiential centres and programs around science, history, culture and innovation. The initiative focuses on creating hands on learning spaces that are inclusive, transdisciplinary and open to diverse communities, with a strong emphasis on enquiry based thinking and collaboration.


Role Overview

The Store Sales Executive, Merchandise Team is responsible for the end to end operations of Param retail stores at the centres. This role covers daily store management, sales performance, supervision and coordination with the Merchandise team for stock, display and product strategy.

The position requires strong ownership of customer experience, discipline in following processes, comfort with data driven decision making and the ability to lead a small frontline team while remaining hands on on the shop floor.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate in commerce, business, retail management or related fields
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in retail, store management or similar customer facing roles
  • Experience handling a team of store staff or sales executives
  • Strong verbal communication in English and at least one regional language such as Kannada or Hindi
  • Proficiency with billing software, point of sale systems, basic spreadsheets and email
  • High level of accuracy in cash handling, UPI and card reconciliation
  • Ability to interpret daily sales reports, footfall data and basic performance metrics
  • Physically able to be on the floor for extended hours during operations and peak days
  • Willingness to work on weekends, holidays and during events as part of the regular roster


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in educational retail, museums, bookstores, toy stores or speciality merchandise
  • Exposure to visual merchandising, display planning and layout optimisation
  • Comfort working with school groups, families and children
  • Experience in basic inventory planning, reorder triggers and vendor coordination
  • Interest in science, history, culture or educational products and a willingness to learn product stories in detail



Key Responsibilities

Store Operations and Customer Experience

  • Own the day to day functioning of the store including opening, closing and shift planning
  • Ensure every visitor receives clear and courteous assistance in identifying suitable products
  • Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, display, signage and navigation at all times
  • Monitor queue management, billing speed and overall crowd flow during peak times
  • Handle escalations and resolve customer issues within defined guidelines

Sales and Performance Management

  • Take responsibility for daily, weekly and monthly sales targets for the store
  • Review sales reports, product wise performance and footfall to identify trends
  • Drive upselling and cross selling while remaining accurate and transparent in all communication
  • Plan and execute simple in store promotions and displays as agreed with the Product and Merchandise team
  • Share structured feedback on fast moving and slow moving items and suggest course corrections

Team Management

  • Supervise store sales executives and interns on conduct, punctuality and task completion
  • Allocate daily responsibilities for billing, floor assistance, replenishment and housekeeping
  • Train new team members on product knowledge, store processes and customer handling standards
  • Conduct brief daily huddles to review priorities, targets and key updates
  • Monitor adherence to dress code, behaviour guidelines and safety norms

Stock, Cash and Process Control

  • Oversee inward and outward stock processes including counting, checking and documentation
  • Maintain accurate stock records, coordinate with back end teams for replenishment and returns
  • Ensure correct billing, discounts and offers are applied as per policy
  • Supervise end of day cash, UPI and card reconciliation and handover as per standard operating procedures
  • Support periodic audits, stock counts and compliance checks and close discrepancies with clear explanations

Coordination with Merchandise Team

  • Share regular on ground insights on product reception, pricing sensitivity and customer queries
  • Coordinate implementation of new displays, seasonal themes and product launches in store
  • Provide structured feedback on packaging, labelling, information gaps and product storytelling needs
  • Support pilot trials for new product lines, bundles or kits and capture response systematically

Events and Special Initiatives

  • Plan and manage store readiness for school visits, large groups, events and festivals
  • Coordinate with centre operations, experience and program teams on visitor flows that impact the store
  • Set up and manage pop up counters when merchandise is sold outside the primary store area
  • Ensure all event related offers, combos and communication are correctly executed at billing and on the floor
