We are seeking an experienced technical communicator to own and elevate product documentation, developer guides, API references, and internal knowledge bases for complex software systems. This role partners with engineering, product, support, and UX teams to turn technical concepts into clear, accurate, and usable content that reduces friction for customers and teams.

As a Senior Technical Writer, you will:

  • Create and maintain documentation for user guides, admin guides, API references, SDK docs, release notes, tutorials, and quick-starts.
  • Partner with engineering and product to capture feature intent, integration details, and edge cases through interviews, and design reviews.
  • Enhance content workflows including review cycles, single-source publishing, versioning, and localization handoffs.
  • Own structure and taxonomy of the documentation site; implement and enforce style, templates, and component libraries.
  • Improve discoverability using search-optimized titles, metadata, cross-linking, and examples that match user tasks.
  • Run content QA and usability testing to validate accuracy, completeness, and real-world usefulness of docs.
  • Mentor and review junior writers and cross-functional contributors to raise documentation quality and consistency.
  • Measure and iterate on docs using analytics, support-ticket trends, and user feedback to prioritize improvements.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced with technical writing for software, with a proven portfolio of product and developer documentation.
  • Skilled in tooling such as Markdown, static site generators (MkDocs, Hugo, Docusaurus), API doc tools (OpenAPI, Swagger), and CI-based publishing.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong command of grammar, tone, and consistent style across large documentation sets.
  • User-focused with experience mapping documentation to user journeys and personas and improving task completion rates.
  • Data-informed and able to use analytics, search metrics, and support feedback to justify content decisions.
  • Comfortable with change in fast-moving product environments and able to manage multiple releases and documentation versions.
  • A mentor and advocate for documentation best practices who can influence product and engineering priorities.
  • Ideally fluent in at least one programming language and able to read, test, and explain code snippets and API behavior.
  • Collaborative and comfortable interviewing engineers, participating in agile rituals, and driving documentation from ambiguous inputs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality user guides, API references, SDK docs, tutorials, quick-starts, release notes, and in-product (context-sensitive) help from single-source content files.
  • Design clear information architecture, navigation, taxonomy, and content templates for the documentation site.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, QA, and support to gather technical details and validate accuracy.
  • Manage content lifecycles across product versions and releases, including branching, versioning, and deprecation notices.
  • Establish and enforce documentation standards, style guides, and single-source templates to ensure consistency and accessibility.
  • Implement documentation tooling and pipelines such as static site generators, API doc generators, CI/CD publishing, and content automation.
  • Drive localization and translation handoffs, ensuring content is internationalization-ready and QA’ed for target languages.
  • Measure documentation effectiveness using analytics, search behavior, support trends, and user feedback to prioritize updates.
  • Perform content QA, accuracy checks, peer reviews, and usability testing to reduce errors and customer friction.
  • Advise on product UX and developer experience by identifying documentation gaps, onboarding blockers, and feature discoverability issues.
  • Mentor junior writers, review contributors’ docs, and evangelize documentation best practices across teams.
  • Support developer relations, onboarding, training, and customer education through demos, workshops, and sample projects.
  • Maintain compliance and security-related documentation such as data handling notes, privacy summaries, and audit-ready materials when required.
  • Produce and maintain code samples, configuration examples, API and SDK usage, and troubleshooting workflows that can be executed and tested.

Experience and Skills:

Technical Expertise:

  • 6+ years of professional experience in technical writing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in other written languages is a bonus.
  • Proven experience in creating, maintaining and enhancing document creation workflows.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, including basic knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Extensive experience working with the Markdown markup language.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and other web technologies.
  • Experience with the MkDocs site building tool (or similar).
  • Understanding of complex software systems, including user interface principles, operating system usage and installation of third-party software, and network communications.
  • Familiar with Git and CI/CD pipelines for documentation versioning and deployment.

  • Experience using AI-assisted tools like Typora AI, Claude, Eddy, Hix or ChatGPT for document generation, validation, and optimization.
  • Proactive in leveraging automation and AI to improve documentation speed, maintainability, and reliability.

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across Product, QA, Delivery, and Client-facing teams.
  • Skilled in mentoring fellow technical writers and conducting reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in technical communication, computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in technical writing.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in creating, maintaining and enhancing document creation workflows.
  • Extensive experience working with the Markdown markup language.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and other web technologies.
  • Experience with the MkDocs site building tool (or similar, e.g. Hugo, Gatsby, Jekyll).
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, including basic knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with exposure to version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using AI-assisted documentation tools (e.g., Typora AI, Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance productivity and documentation quality.
