We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Business Analyst with deep domain expertise in the airline industry and a proven track record in implementing IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC) and related distribution standards. This role will be instrumental in driving our modern airline retailing strategy, bridging the gap between business objectives, distribution partners, and technology development teams.
The ideal candidate will translate complex commercial distribution strategies into clear, actionable functional specifications and user stories for our NDC and Order Management systems.
Key Responsibilities
NDC Strategy & Implementation
NDC Expertise: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all NDC-related projects, including Offer creation, Order management, Servicing, and Settlement processes.
Requirements Gathering: Conduct workshops and detailed interviews with commercial, sales, and IT stakeholders to capture and document business requirements for new NDC capabilities (e.g., dynamic pricing, ancillary sales, personalization).
Gap Analysis: Perform gap analysis between current GDS/legacy distribution systems and the target NDC/One Order architecture, defining the transformation roadmap.
Documentation: Translate high-level business requirements into detailed Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), User Stories, and acceptance criteria (Gherkin format, where applicable).
Cross-functional Collaboration & Delivery
Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison between the Distribution/Commercial teams, Product Owners, and the IT Development/API teams, ensuring alignment across all parties.
Integration Support: Define and support the integration requirements between NDC Order Manager platforms and core airline systems, particularly the Passenger Service System (PSS) and Revenue Accounting systems.
Agile Management: Participate actively in all Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and manage the backlog in tools like JIRA/Confluence, prioritizing work based on business value.
Testing & QA: Support Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by designing test cases and validating that the implemented NDC solutions meet the original business objectives and IATA standards.
Domain & Technical Understanding
Maintain a current understanding of IATA standards, including NDC (Level 4/3 certification preferred), One Order, and common industry messaging protocols (XML/JSON).
Analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and new distribution technologies to provide recommendations for enhancing the airline's retailing capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a minimum of 2+ years focused on the airline distribution, e-commerce, or reservations domain.
NDC Proficiency (Mandatory): Demonstrated, practical experience working on NDC implementation projects (either on the airline or seller/aggregator side).
Core Airline Systems Knowledge: Strong functional understanding of core airline systems, particularly the Passenger Service System (PSS) and its interaction with distribution channels.
Methodology: Expert proficiency in Agile/Scrum and ability to author high-quality Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
Technical Literacy: Familiarity with API design concepts, XML/JSON messaging structures, and basic SQL for data validation and analysis.
Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business leaders.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
IATA NDC Certification (e.g., NDC Program certification).
Experience with One Order standards and implementation.
Prior experience with airline retailing transformation projects and dynamic offer management solutions.
Working knowledge of Revenue Accounting and Settlement processes (e.g., BSP, ARC).
Proficiency with enterprise requirement management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio).
