The Senior Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for managing and supervising the biomedical engineering department to ensure all medical equipment and systems operate safely, effectively, and efficiently. The role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, overseeing maintenance schedules, vendor coordination, compliance with NABH and statutory standards, and contributing to equipment planning and procurement decisions.
· Supervise installation, calibration, preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical and diagnostic equipment across hospital departments.
· Conduct performance verification, safety testing, and technical evaluation of all medical devices.
· Ensure optimal uptime of critical equipment by implementing preventive maintenance programs.
· Maintain comprehensive records for equipment calibration, service history, and performance reports.
· Collaborate with clinical teams to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure continuous operation of life-support and diagnostic systems.
· Lead and mentor junior biomedical engineers and technicians in day-to-day maintenance activities.
· Allocate work responsibilities and prepare maintenance schedules and duty rosters.
· Liaise with OEMs, vendors, and service agencies for equipment installation, maintenance contracts, and AMC/CMC management.
· Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, consumables; raise requisitions & control expenses.
· Assist management in equipment procurement planning, technical specifications preparation, and budgeting.
· Ensure that all maintenance and service activities are documented and tracked as per NABH/hospital policy.
· Prepare and submit regular reports on equipment status, breakdown analysis, preventive maintenance completion, vendor performance, and compliance updates.
· Present monthly and quarterly reports to HOD/Management highlighting key metrics, issues, and improvement actions.
· Ensure adherence to NABH, AERB, and other regulatory compliance standards for medical equipment.
· Maintain safety protocols, infection control, and biomedical waste management.
· Support internal and external audits by maintaining required documentation.
· Conduct regular training sessions for clinical staff on safe and effective equipment usage.
· Uphold confidentiality, patient safety, and data integrity in all departmental operations.
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
· Minimum 6–8 years of experience in hospital biomedical engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
· Hands-on experience with diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient-care equipment.
· Exposure to NABH or ISO-accredited hospital environments preferred.
