Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for managing the maintenance, calibration, and compliance of all medical equipment deployed across the 108 ambulance fleet in Maharashtra. This role ensures that life-saving devices are operational, safe, and meet regulatory standards, supporting uninterrupted emergency medical services statewide.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management

  • Oversee installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment (e.g., defibrillators, ventilators, suction units, patient monitors).
  • Maintain equipment uptime across all ambulances and dispatch centers.
  • Ensure calibration and performance testing as per manufacturer and CDSCO guidelines.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain service logs, calibration records, and asset tracking databases.
  • Ensure compliance with MEMS, NHM, and state biomedical safety regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for audits, inspections, and equipment certifications.

Training & Support

  • Train EMTs and paramedics on safe usage and basic troubleshooting of medical devices.
  • Provide technical support during field operations and emergency deployments.
  • Assist in onboarding new equipment and updating SOPs.

Strategic Oversight

  • Coordinate with district-level biomedical engineers, hospital authorities, and service vendors.
  • Lead procurement evaluations for new equipment and upgrades.
  • Participate in disaster preparedness planning and equipment readiness assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or related field (Diploma holders with extensive experience may be considered).
  • 5+ years of experience in biomedical equipment management, preferably in EMS or hospital settings.
  • Familiarity with emergency medical devices and mobile healthcare environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel across districts and respond to field service calls.
