Job Description

Position Summary: The Bio-Medical Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, calibration, and quality control of biomedical equipment used in emergency ambulances and healthcare settings. This includes ensuring that life-saving devices such as defibrillators, ventilators, suction machines, and monitors are fully functional, safe, and compliant with applicable standards. The role supports the operational reliability and readiness of medical equipment for Maharashtras emergency ambulance fleet. Key Responsibilities: Support the customization and development of biomedical solutions for pre-hospital(ambulance) care. Perform repairs and troubleshooting for devices like AEDs, suction units, oxygenregulators, and infusion pumps. Install and calibrate new medical equipment in ambulances and maintenance hubs. Ensure all biomedical devices conform to Indian standards (CDSCO, BIS) andinternational safety norms. Implement quality checks during acceptance, commissioning, and routine use phases Train EMTs and ambulance staff on correct use, basic troubleshooting, and care ofmedical devices. Educational Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical EngineeringCBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician), CCE (Certified ClinicalEngineer) - Preferred 2-5 years in a biomedical engineering role, preferably within EMS, hospitals, ordiagnostic services. Skills Required: Must-Have Skills: Strong understanding of emergency medical equipment (monitor-defibrillators,BVMs, etc.) Proficiency in equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and calibration Excellent documentation and reporting skills Basic knowledge of ambulance power supply systems and mounting hardware Good-to-Have Skills: Familiarity with ambulance standards (AIS 125 Part 1, NABH for EMS) Knowledge of ISO 13485 and CDSCO regulations Ability to coordinate with field staff and third-party vendors Personal Attributes : Strong attention to detail and safety compliance Ability to work independently and under field conditions Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach Strong ethical and professional standards.
