Job Description

Job Summary:

The Purchase Manager will oversee end-to-end procurement operations for the paper manufacturing unit, covering raw materials, consumables, packaging materials, mechanical and electrical spares, and general engineering items. The role demands expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost optimization, and ensuring timely material availability to support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan, develop, and execute procurement strategies in alignment with production and maintenance requirements.

· Source and procure raw materials such as pulp, paper chemicals, and packaging materials.

· Handle procurement of mechanical spares, including nuts, bolts, bearings, shafts, pumps, valves, and fabrication materials.

· Manage electrical item procurement, including motors, panels, cables, switches, sensors, and control systems.

· Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and Stores teams for accurate material forecasts and timely availability.

· Identify and develop reliable vendors for quality materials at competitive prices.

· Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to achieve cost savings and long-term supplier relationships.

· Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the stores department to maintain optimal stock.

· Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.

· Maintain proper procurement documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.

· Generate and present regular reports on purchase performance, spend analysis, and cost control initiatives.

· Drive process improvement and automation initiatives within the procurement function.

· Lead and mentor a team of purchasing and stores executives to enhance efficiency and accountability.

Skills & Competencies:

· In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, material planning, and vendor development.

· Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.

· Hands-on experience in ERP systems (SAP / Tally /).

· Technical understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering components.

· Exposure to import procurement, logistics, and taxation (GST, customs, etc.).

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Knowledge of ISO / quality and safety management standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
