Job Summary

As a Product Manager – Core Platform, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Zato's core platform features including Dashboard, Jobs Management, Automation workflows, Query Hub, GL Scrutiny, Autocoding, Workpapers, and Document Signing. You will define the product vision, prioritize features, and work closely with engineering, design, and business teams to deliver exceptional value to accounting firms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Zato’s core platform aligned with business objectives and customer needs
  • Conduct user research, customer interviews, and field studies with accounting firms to understand workflows, pain points, and requirements
  • Translate business requirements and user needs into detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize product backlog based on business value, user impact, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment
  • Collaborate with engineering teams (backend, frontend, ML/AI) to define technical specifications and ensure successful feature delivery
  • Work with UI/UX designers to create intuitive user experiences and validate designs through user testing and feedback
  • Define success metrics and KPIs for each feature and module, and continuously monitor performance post-launch
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily standups with engineering teams using agile methodologies
  • Make data-driven decisions using product analytics, user feedback, and market research to iterate and improve features
  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to launch to optimization, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with customer success, support, and implementation teams to gather feedback and ensure smooth rollouts
  • Conduct competitive analysis to understand market trends, competitor features, and positioning opportunities
  • Define and maintain product documentation including feature specifications, workflow diagrams, and release notes
  • Drive innovation in accounting automation by exploring AI/ML capabilities, workflow optimizations, and intelligent features
  • Present product updates, roadmaps, and strategic recommendations to leadership and stakeholders
  • Support go-to-market activities including product launches, pilot programs, and customer training initiatives


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or technical Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in product management for SaaS, B2B, or enterprise software (5+ years preferred for senior roles)
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling product features from concept to production
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and product management best practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to leverage data and metrics to inform product decisions
  • Deep customer empathy with experience conducting user research, interviews, and usability testing
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Technical aptitude to understand APIs, databases, system architecture, and integration concepts
  • Experience writing detailed PRDs, user stories, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, ProductBoard, or similar platforms
  • Experience with workflow automation, AI/ML features, or intelligent systems is highly desirable
  • Understanding of accounting workflows, financial compliance, and Chart of Accounts is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or other accounting platforms is beneficial
  • Strategic thinker with ability to balance short-term execution with long-term product vision
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to drive consensus and inspire teams
