Role Overview

Manager – Procurement

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality supply of technical spares, provisions, stores, lubricants, and services across vessels under management.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, ensuring clear accountability, training, and performance improvement.
  • Develop and implement standardized global procurement processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Establish supplier evaluation and performance monitoring systems.
  • Work closely with Technical, Fleet, and Accounts teams to ensure seamless procurement and payment cycles.

Procurement Management

  • Oversee procurement for vessels — spares, stores, provisions, lubricants, repairs, and services.
  • Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with vendors globally to achieve cost efficiency and quality assurance.
  • Monitor and control purchase budgets, ensuring cost optimization without compromising on quality or delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with vessel superintendents and Masters for onboard needs and emergency procurements.

Technology & Systems

  • Drive automation and digitalization of procurement processes through ERP and e-procurement platforms (Mariapps)
  • Ensure data accuracy, timely updates, and reporting through ERP systems.
  • Explore technology-driven procurement models to improve vendor transparency and real-time tracking.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Build and maintain a robust vendor base across regions — Europe, Middle East, India, and the Far East.
  • Oversee annual vendor evaluations and develop vendor performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and international maritime procurement practices.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and present periodic procurement dashboards and savings reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, ISM, and company procurement policies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits related to procurement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum 

    10+ years of experience

     in procurement within 

    ship management or ship owning companies

    .
  • Proven experience handling international vendors and cross-border supply chains.
  • Strong understanding of 

    technical ship management

    , including machinery, deck, and engine consumables.
  • Exposure to 

    ERP procurement systems (Mariapps, ShipNet, Danaos, or similar)

     is essential.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset and high integrity.
