The Technical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels, ensuring their safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation. The role requires close coordination with vessel crews, ship owners, and relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with international regulations, class requirements, and company standards. Key Responsibilities: Vessel Maintenance & Performance: Monitor and manage the maintenance, repairs, and overall technical performance of assigned vessels. Dry Docking & Repairs: Plan, supervise, and coordinate dry-docking, major repairs, and maintenance schedules within budget and timeline. Budget Management: Prepare and manage operational budgets for vessel maintenance, repairs, and procurement of spare parts. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.), class requirements, and company policies. Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations and promote a culture of safety within the fleet. Crew Support & Training: Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard staff and ensure adequate training on new technologies and regulatory requirements. Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure technical integrity and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Incident Investigation: Assist in the investigation of technical incidents and accidents, providing reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence. Procurement & Inventory Management: Oversee procurement of spare parts, lubricants, and stores, ensuring cost-effective and timely supply. Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vessel performance, technical incidents, and maintenance schedules, providing reports to management as required. Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering. Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) or equivalent seagoing experience preferred. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in technical management of ships, preferably in bulk carriers, tankers, offshore vessels, or container ships. Strong knowledge of ship repair, dry docking, and maintenance planning. Familiarity with classification societies, flag state requirements, and international maritime regulations. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using ship management software and MS Office applications. Preferred Skills & Attributes: Experience in managing a fleet of vessels and working with multinational crew and stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong analytical and negotiation skills for budget and cost control.
