Responsibilities
In collaboration with architecture, develop and drive the long-term network strategy and architecture in alignment with business goals. Define network standards, policies, and guidelines. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, solutions, and methodologies to optimize network performance, scalability, and security.Lead the planning, design, and implementation of large-scale, complex network infrastructures, including data centers, wide area networks, and cloud environments. Evaluate network capacity requirements, traffic patterns, and performance considerations to ensure the scalability, reliability, and efficiency.Develop and implement network security policies, practices, and procedures to protect the organization's network infrastructure. Implement advanced security measures, such as threat intelligence, encryption, identity and access management, and security incident response. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.Be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of the network infrastructure. Implement robust monitoring and management tools to proactively determine and resolve network issues. Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability. Conduct periodic performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal network performance.Drive network automation initiatives by using tools and technologies such as software-defined networking (SDN), network automation frameworks, and programmable infrastructure. Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human errors.Provide expert-level support in resolving complex network issues and incidents. Conduct in-depth analysis, root cause identification, and implement corrective actions.Collaborate external vendors for incident resolution and problem management and with cross-functional teams including systems administrators, security experts, application developers, and IT leadership, to ensure seamless solutions and services. Participate in multi-functional projects to drive the alignment and integration of network infrastructure with other IT components.Keep abreast of emerging networking technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Conduct research and development activities to evaluate and introduce innovative network solutions, methodologies, and tools. Continuously assess and recommend improvements to the network architecture and infrastructure.Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to network engineering teams. Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, and innovation. Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and develop professional growth plans for team members.Manage relationships with network equipment vendors, service providers, and strategic partners. Evaluate and select vendors, help negotiate contracts, and ensure effective delivery of products and services. Stay informed about vendor roadmaps, emerging technologies, and market trends.Ensure comprehensive documentation of network designs, configurations, processes, and procedures. Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and knowledge transfer sessions to upskill the network engineering team and other collaborators.Collaborate with IT leadership in developing network-related budgets, cost optimization strategies, and procurement plans. Optimize network spending by identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating favorable contracts, and implementing efficient resource utilization practices.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. with 15+ years of proven network / IT experience and increasing responsibility in a large, global enterprise.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and stakeholders. Proven experience in building, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
- Experience planning and controlling enterprise-scale budgets, and a thorough understanding of common budgeting processes.
- Extensive knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), switching protocols (VLAN, STP), and network security protocols (IPsec, SSL/TLS).
- Extensive experience designing and architecting networks, including complex enterprise networks, data centers, and cloud environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience with network devices and technologies from leading vendors.
- In-depth knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including firewall management, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network access control.
- Expert-level knowledge and experience in network troubleshooting tools and techniques and understanding of network monitoring and analytics tools, such as LogicMonitor, Viavi, and others.
- Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE) are preferred.
