About the Role

AGM Plant Head – Operations

As the Plant Head, you will be responsible for driving production, quality, cost, and delivery performance while ensuring safety and compliance. You will lead cross-functional teams and implement continuous improvement initiatives that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all plant operations including manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and vendor management to achieve business targets and operational excellence.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor production schedules to meet customer delivery timelines and optimize resource utilization.
• Prepare product estimation, costing, and budgeting aligned with customer RFQs and purchase orders.
• Drive new product development (NPD) initiatives in coordination with engineering and marketing teams.
• Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, 5S, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Conduct daily production review meetings (Gemba) focusing on production progress, quality issues, vendor performance, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards, and enforce EHS policies across the plant.
• Monitor and reduce internal and external rejection rates by leading Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) and employing problem-solving techniques like QC Story.
• Oversee plant layout, automation projects, erection and commissioning of machines and equipment.
• Lead people management efforts including training, performance appraisals, manpower planning, and fostering a culture of discipline and accountability.
• Coordinate with customers and vendors to ensure alignment on quality, delivery schedules, and cost objectives.
• Prepare and present operational reports, KPIs, and business performance to senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (B.Tech / B.E.)
• Minimum 30 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in aerospace, automotive engine parts, hydraulic/pneumatic products, or automation component manufacturing.
• Strong experience with CNC programming (Turning, VMC 3/4/5 Axis, HMC), grinding, induction hardening, and special processes.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, 5S, SMED, and other operational excellence tools.
• Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, TS16949, AS9100D and internal auditor experience.
• Hands-on experience with production planning, costing, estimation, budgeting, and supplier management.
• Experience in implementing low-cost automation, plant layout changes, and process improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and MS Office applications.
