Bitchief Technology Services Private Limited is a leading IT solutions provider offering end-to-end technology services including Cloud, Security, Data Services, and Facility Management. We are expanding our Infrastructure & Security team and seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to manage and maintain Linux environments for enterprise operations.

Job Summary

The Linux Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux-based systems and servers to ensure high performance, availability, and security across the enterprise environment. The role involves managing system resources, performing troubleshooting, implementing security controls, and supporting both production and development environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Administration

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, Oracle).
  • Perform system updates, patch management, and kernel upgrades.
  • Manage system services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, FTP, SSH, and HTTP.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk).

2. User and Access Management

  • Create and manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and access control.
  • Enforce password policies and security best practices.
  • Integrate systems with Active Directory or centralized authentication mechanisms (LDAP/Kerberos).

3. Storage and Backup Management

  • Manage LVM, file systems, and disk partitions.
  • Configure and manage SAN/NAS mounts and NFS shares.
  • Schedule and verify backups; perform data restoration and recovery testing.

4. Security and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain server hardening as per CIS benchmarks or organizational standards.
  • Monitor system logs, audit trails, and intrusion detection alerts.
  • Apply and verify security patches regularly.

5. Automation and Scripting

  • Develop shell scripts (Bash, Python, or Ansible) for routine administrative tasks.
  • Automate deployment and configuration using Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.

6. Troubleshooting and Support

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, OS, and application-level issues.
  • Collaborate with networking and storage teams for cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical systems as part of the on-call rotation.

7. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain updated server configuration, patch, and change records.
  • Prepare regular system health and performance reports.
  • Document SOPs for common operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience as a Linux Administrator or System Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, Oracle).
  • Proficiency with shell scripting and automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware, or Hyper-V).
  • Experience with server monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus).
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and firewall rules.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines).
