Role Overview
The Senior Business Analyst will analyze and translate complex business needs into scalable data-driven solutions. The role requires deep analytical capabilities, expertise in business analysis methodologies, and strong collaboration skills to align stakeholders, data engineers, and architects toward achieving enterprise data goals. The ideal candidate will independently manage the full lifecycle of business analysis, mentor junior analysts, and drive continuous improvement across data programs.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Strategy
- Analyze business needs to recommend and evaluate optimal solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all business and strategic requirements related to the Data Platform program.
- Independently perform Business Analysis (BA) tasks while guiding and mentoring junior BAs.
- Identify, prioritize, structure, and solve complex business problems through analytical and critical thinking.
- Proactively identify dependencies, constraints, and impacts from a business standpoint during sprint planning and estimation.
Requirements Gathering & Documentation
- Elicit, document, and manage business, functional, and non-functional requirements using proven BA techniques such as interviews, workshops, surveys, document analysis, and user stories.
- Define software quality attributes, external interfaces, and solution constraints.
- Establish effective requirement management practices ensuring traceability, versioning, and approval.
- Translate business needs into clear technical requirements for data engineers and architects.
- Define and document use cases, process flows, acceptance criteria, and future-state models.
Data Platform & Solution Design
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and developers to design scalable and robust data solutions.
- Work on data lake, data warehouse, and ETL/ELT initiatives ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
- Support data migration, data governance, and data quality management activities.
- Evaluate and recommend modern data tools and technologies aligned with enterprise goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and requirement elicitation sessions to gather feedback and align on expectations.
- Manage stakeholder communications effectively and negotiate business priorities.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder engagement strategies supporting organizational transformation.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Establish BA processes, templates, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across deliverables.
- Develop reusable artifacts, tools, and methodologies to enhance organizational efficiency.
- Support business performance improvement through analysis of current and future states, risk assessment, and change strategy development.
- Develop and maintain BA artefacts ensuring clear version control and stakeholder communication.
Mentorship & Leadership
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to develop the BA community within the organization.
- Monitor and support junior BAs, identifying skill gaps and development areas.
- Assist in identifying new business opportunities and proposing innovative solutions to stakeholders.
Key Skills & Competencies
Core Business Analysis Skills:
- Requirements Elicitation, Business Process Modelling, Data Flow Diagrams, Use Cases, User Stories, Stakeholder Analysis, and Solution Evaluation.
- Expertise in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments with proven ability in backlog grooming and sprint planning.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of ETL, Data Architecture, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Cloud Data Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands-on experience with SQL and data analysis.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and BI/analytics tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Exposure to AI/ML and advanced analytics initiatives is a plus.

- Ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve complex business challenges.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
- 6–10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data-driven or digital transformation projects.
- Professional certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent) preferred.
