Job Description

Job Purpose:

The

Inventory Controller

will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing inventory levels across multiple warehouses and branches. The role ensures accurate stock visibility, effective inventory planning, and smooth coordination between procurement, warehouse, and sales operations. The position demands strong analytical skills, process orientation, and hands-on experience with inventory management systems and multi-location inventory control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Planning & Control
  • Develop and maintain inventory planning models based on demand forecasts, lead times, and safety stock levels.
  • Monitor stock levels across all warehouses/branches to prevent stock-outs or overstock situations.
  • Plan inter-warehouse stock transfers to balance inventory efficiently.
  • Analyze consumption trends and propose reorder levels and minimum stock quantities.
  • Work closely with the Purchase team for material replenishment planning.
  • Stock Accuracy & Reconciliation
  • Ensure 100% stock accuracy through daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between system stock and physical stock.
  • Oversee cycle counting and annual physical inventory processes.
  • Coordinate with finance for periodic stock audits and valuation reports.
  • Multi-Location Inventory Coordination
  • Maintain centralized visibility of inventory across all warehouses and branches.
  • Develop standardized reporting formats and dashboards for all warehouse locations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams for timely stock updates and data consistency.
  • Ensure adherence to company’s inventory policies and procedures across locations.
  • MIS & Reporting
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory status, stock aging, movement, and slow/non-moving items.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for cost optimization and process improvement.
  • Share weekly/monthly inventory dashboards with SCM and management.
  • Process Improvement & System Management
  • Streamline and automate inventory control processes using ERP/HRMS systems.
  • Recommend improvements to warehouse layout, binning, and labeling for better control.
  • Ensure real-time data accuracy in inventory management software.
  • Support digital integration between purchase, sales, and warehouse modules.
  • Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure adherence to internal and statutory compliance for inventory management.
  • Prepare documentation for internal/external audits.
  • Implement SOPs to minimize shrinkage, pilferage, or loss.

Desired Profile

Education

Graduate / Postgraduate in Commerce, Supply Chain, or OperationsDiploma / Certification in Inventory Management or Logistics preferred

Experience

8–12 years of experience in inventory control and planningMust have worked with

multi-location or multi-warehouse operations

Strong exposure to ERP / Inventory Management Systems

Technical Skills

Proficiency in MS ExcelERP / WMS knowledge (Tally ERP, SAP, Oracle, or similar)Analytical and problem-solving skills
