Head of Commercial will be responsible for leading commercial department for EPC projects, including cost estimation, cost control, bid preparation, vendor management, contract management and business development. Coordinates with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure competitive, compliant, and profitable project execution.
1. Prepare CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates based on project scope and design documents.
2. Estimate manpower, man-hours, and equipment hour requirements from drawings and specifications.
3. Prepare competitive pricing summaries and cost analysis for both material supply and service components.
4. Lead the preparation of techno-commercial proposals and bid documentation.
5. Review tender documents, technical specifications, and contract requirements.
6. Identify deliverables, timelines, and quality standards expected by clients.
7. Evaluate contract risks (financial, legal, operational) and assist in mitigation planning.
8. Review final contract documents prior to signing to ensure commercial accuracy.
9. Interface with clients for bid clarifications, scope discussions, and proposal presentations.
10. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to collect quotes and evaluate offers.
11. Conduct commercial comparisons and participate in negotiations.
12. Participate in pre-bid engineering meetings to define project approach and resource needs.
13. Work closely with engineering and project teams to align proposals with deliverable timelines.
14. Conduct thorough cost estimation and budget forecasting. Oversee budgeting, cost control, and value engineering initiatives.
15. Monitor cost deviations and P&L and update internal databases for future reference.
16. Lead and mentor your team to ensure high performance, knowledge sharing, and timely delivery of commercial outputs.
17. Prepare and update the company’s project and capability portfolio in alignment with evolving business needs and market opportunities.
18. Develop department strategy aligned with corporate goals, ensuring profitability and sustainability.
19. Involve senior management in key commercial discussions to align strategies, review high-value bids, and support decision-making for project acquisitions and risk mitigation.
