Job Description

Job Title: General Manager - Finance

Location: Andheri, Mumbai

Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Summary:

The General Manager of Accounts is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial functions within the organization. This role is not pure management, it requires more attention paid into daily accounting practice work .This includes managing the accounting team, doing the accounting practice, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing financial reports, and providing strategic financial guidance to the senior management team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:

  • Supervise and audit accounting team’s work, guide and improve their work quality
  • Manage team members to finish works in schedule
  • Handle works related to Indian manufacturing (Import and manufacturing experience is preferred)
  1. Accounting Operations:

  • Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  1. Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and financial reporting standards (e.g., Indian Accounting Standards, IFRS).
  • Handle tax assessment and appealing works.
  • Coordinate and manage external and internal audits.(statutory audit)
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  1. Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and training to staff.
  1. Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present financial reports to CFO.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision-making.
  1. Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies and goals.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to support business planning and growth initiatives.
  1. Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with banks, financial institutions, auditors.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and customers from a financial perspective.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

  • MBA in Finance or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • CA is preferred.
  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • At least 5 years in a senior management role within the finance department.
  • Proficient experience in SAP is preferred.
  • Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
