We are seeking an experienced and results-driven professional to lead the Finance and Accounts function of our shipbuilding and repair operations. The Head – Finance & Accounts will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, strategy, planning, and compliance across new build and repair projects. This role demands strong leadership, deep industry knowledge, and an ability to align financial planning with the business's operational and strategic goals.
* Develop and implement financial strategies to support shipbuilding and repair operations.
* Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
* Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support executive decision-making.
* Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.
* Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, MIS reports
* Lead audits (internal and external) and ensure effective closure of audit points.
* Continuously improve project accounting systems for new builds and repair jobs.
* Monitor project-wise cost estimates, budgets, and actuals; highlight variances and drive corrective actions.
* Support pricing strategies, cost estimation, and bid support for shipbuilding contracts.
* Explore Cost optimisation avenues
* Ensure adherence to all applicable financial, tax, and regulatory compliance requirements.
* Develop internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
* Liaise with legal, tax, and regulatory authorities as needed.
* Knowledge of SEZ compliances will be added advantage
* Policy advocacy on tax/SEZ matters and Defence procurement procedures
* Optimize working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables.
* Evaluate financing options for capex and project needs.
* Cash-flow management
* Optimise use of non-funded facilities – BG and LCs
* Lead and develop the finance and accounts team to ensure high performance and accountability.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline.
* Chartered Accountant (CA) with 20-25 years of experience with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
* Prior experience in heavy engineering or EPC industries is highly desirable.
* Proven expertise in project finance, cost control, and strategic financial management.
* Strong financial and analytical acumen.
* In-depth knowledge of project-based accounting and costing.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
* Familiarity with ERP systems is preferred.
