Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and statements of cost of goods manufactured.
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgeted figures, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide insights into production costs, profitability, cash flow, and inventory management.
  • Cost Accounting and Control:
  • Develop and implement costing methodologies (e.g., job costing, process costing, activity-based costing) to accurately track and allocate production costs (direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead).
  • Monitor and analyze overhead costs to identify areas for reduction and improve cost efficiency.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives, such as value engineering and supply chain optimization.
  • Inventory Management and Valuation:
  • Oversee the valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
  • Implement inventory control techniques like ABC analysis and cycle counting to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs and waste.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records and reconciliation with physical inventory counts.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Collaborate with production and management teams to develop production budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide analysis on budget variances.
  • Forecast future financial outcomes based on historical data, market trends, and economic indicators.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
  • Ensure adherence to national and international accounting standards and tax laws, such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), depending on the location and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and tax regulations affecting the manufacturing sector.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Collaboration and Advisory:
  • Liaise with clients, auditors, and other stakeholders, providing accurate information and financial insights.
  • Offer financial guidance and recommendations to management for optimizing financial performance and achieving strategic objectives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate accounting and financial data with operational processes.

Qualifications

  • CA Certification: Successfully completed the Chartered Accountancy course and examinations conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or equivalent body.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Acumatica), and financial tools.
  • In-depth understanding of cost accounting methods and their application in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of tax laws and regulations relevant to the manufacturing sector.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data and identify solutions.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for effective interaction with stakeholders and report presentation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen to understand the manufacturing industry and its financial dynamics.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and lead teams.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
