Role Overview

Lead Category Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Category Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement business plans for category growth, pricing, and positioning.
  • Identify emerging trends, customer needs, and market opportunities to shape the product roadmap.
  • P&L Ownership:

  • Manage category budgets, margins, and profitability.
  • Drive pricing, promotions, and assortment strategies to maximize sales and optimize costs.
  • Assortment & Merchandising:

  • Curate and manage product assortment across digital and retail platforms.
  • Partner with design, sourcing, and vendor teams to ensure freshness, innovation, and timely launches.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management:

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships for better negotiation, terms, and performance.
  • Explore new sourcing opportunities and manage vendor onboarding.
  • Collaboration & Execution:

  • Work closely with marketing teams on campaigns and new product launches.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and operations to ensure availability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Data & Insights:

  • Use analytics to track performance, consumer behavior, and inventory efficiency.
  • Generate actionable insights to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • Education:

    MBA or equivalent in Marketing, Retail, or Business Management.
  • Experience:

    7–10 years of experience in Category Management, Merchandising, or Product Management (preferably in e-commerce, FMCG, lifestyle, or gifting industries).
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen with P&L management experience.
  • Proven track record of launching and scaling product categories.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with operational excellence.
