S&P Global Energy About the Role: Associate Director, Quality Engineering
The Team: The Quality Engineering (QE) team is responsible for enabling high-quality, resilient, and scalable software delivery across S&P Global. The team drives the transformation of testing into a modern, engineering-led, AI-enabled quality practice across multiple product lines and platforms.
As an Associate Director, you will lead Quality Engineering strategy, define standards, modernize automation frameworks, and partner with technology, product, and business teams to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle. You will guide teams toward continuous testing, predictive quality, and intelligent automation, while influencing architectural decisions and driving operational excellence. Responsibilities and Impact: This role shapes how S&P Global builds, tests, and delivers software. You will elevate engineering maturity, reduce risk, accelerate release cycles, and enable teams to deliver high-quality products consistently.
You will lead the evolution from traditional QA to engineering-driven Quality, introducing AI-enabled testing practices, predictive analytics, and automation-first principles. Your leadership will directly improve reliability, efficiency, and customer experience across mission-critical platforms. Lead Quality Engineering strategy and governance across product teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. Drive adoption of continuous testing practices integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Architect, modernize, and scale automation frameworks for UI, API, performance, data, and end-to-end testing. Expand use of AI-driven testing capabilities—including test generation, risk-based prioritization, visual testing, defect prediction, and intelligent reporting. Establish QE KPIs, engineering health metrics, and quality maturity scorecards to inform decision-making. Partner with engineering leaders, architects, and product managers to define quality criteria, acceptance standards, and release readiness gates. Lead root-cause analysis, improve defect containment, and prevent recurrence through engineering solutions. Champion shift-left and shift-right practices including contract testing, observability-driven testing, and production monitoring. Mentor and grow QE engineers, SDETs, and automation specialists across regions. Drive performance engineering strategy using AI-based tools, workload modeling, and automated scenario generation. Implement data-driven testing and validation approaches using large datasets and predictive algorithms. Oversee vendor relationships, procurement of testing tools, and optimization of cost/performance trade-offs. Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the QE organization. What We’re Looking For:
Lead QE strategy across one or more products or applications. Drive adoption of modern automation frameworks, continuous testing, and AI-based quality practices. Influence architecture, development lifecycle, DevOps, and engineering standards. Work alongside global partners and collaborate with senior engineering and product leadership. Access to advanced tooling, platforms, and training to grow your technical and leadership expertise. Shape the future of how S&P Global delivers high-quality software. Basic Required Qualifications:
Engineering Graduate with 12–16 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Engineering, with at least 3–5 years in leadership. Proven expertise leading QE strategy for large-scale, enterprise applications. Strong knowledge of automation frameworks for UI, API, performance, security, and data validation. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, observability, and test orchestration. Hands-on understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and integration testing. Demonstrated experience applying AI-driven testing technologies, GitHub Copilot, and agentic AI systems. Strong grounding in API testing, test environment management, and release governance. Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams and scaled agile environments. Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of data validation, data quality frameworks, and analytics-based testing. Exposure to NLP techniques for automated test case and scenario generation. Experience implementing predictive defect models and risk-based testing using AI. Familiarity with performance testing tools and synthetic monitoring. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills. Key Soft Skills: Strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, collaboration, coaching & mentoring, and strong written and verbal communication.
